The role you’ll contribute:
The Clinical Risk Management Coordinator works with the Administrative Director of Quality, Risk and Safety (Risk Manager) for the hospital and administration to organize a systematic approach to risk management decision making and program administration. This position assists with event, claim, and litigation management as well as coordination of several risk mitigation programs. Manages all enterprise risk insurance claims in collaboration w/ AHS Risk Management e.g. general and professional liability, auto, property, etc.

· Collects, aggregates, analyzes, summarizes and reports quality data for hospital organizational performance and physician performance data as indicates.
· Participates in hospital-wide outcomes and quality improvement initiatives/ performance improvement teams as indicated.
· Assists in efforts to improve and streamline the process and workflow of the department.
· Demonstrates the ability to set appropriate priorities.
· Recognizes how absence impacts the functioning of the healthcare team and strives to minimize this effect.
· When requested, is willing to adjust personal schedule in order to complete workload when necessary
· Attends educational offerings as needed to promote continuous learning and support to department
· Implements the objectives of Risk Management and Patient Safety Plan
· Working knowledge of the PSO (Patient Safety Organization)
· Reports potential risk management concerns to the risk manager
· Reviews, maintains and tracks responses all event reports submitted. Ensures timely and complete follow-up and standard of care assignment.
· Ensures the event reporting database is maintained with integrity, standardization of data and timely documentation consistent w/ AHS PSO standards and Kansas Risk Management statutes
· Completes required reports of the risk management program to KDH&E or other related licensure governing bodies.
· Works with Corporate Risk Management should a claim or lawsuit occur; investigation and preparation for litigation.
· Prepares and maintains documentation and correspondence related PCE’s, Claims, and Lawsuits
· Coordinates formal and informal responses to correspondence: subpoena’s, interrogatories, production of documents requests, claims, or lawsuits etc.
· Supports and encourages error reporting and near miss reporting throughout the organization
· Leads and facilitates the PI teams, FMEAs, and RCAs as warranted.
· Creates and disseminates aggregate department specific reports related to risk management data.
· Oversees the risk management programs related to Notaries, Certificates of Insurance, Driver’s Insurance Program, etc.
· Act as resource for the organization as it relates to events, claims/ litigation, and risk mitigation
· Coordinates assigned meetings to include review of agendas, notices, notebooks and minutes. Perform necessary follow-up based upon actions taken by the committee. Chairs and coordinates the facilities Clinical Executive Risk Management Committee.
· Coordinates risk assessments as conducted and associated corrective action planning.
· Complete insurance applications for renewal as determined.
· Provides education formal and informal related to assigned areas, e.g. Risk Management and Patient safety.
· Working knowledge of The Joint Commission, CMS CoP’s, Kansas Risk Management statutes, and Patient Safety Organization (PSO) requirements, as it pertains to patient safety and risk management.
· Addresses opportunities for improvement with open, honest, outcome oriented approach for success.
· Demonstrates excellent management, communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, critical thinking, systems thinking, consulting, and team building skills.
· Ability to prioritize, plan and execute while pursuing various projects simultaneously.
· Cross trains to others’ assignments within the department to gain depth in duties and allow cross coverage.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Bachelor’s Degree
RN must have surgical service experience in an ASC (1-2 years)
Kansas Registered Nurse License
2 to 5 Years of Position-Related Experience Preferred
Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) Preferred
