Clinical Rotation Adjunct Supervisor

Overview
The Clinical Rotation Supervisor supervises groups of Touro College OT students on level II fieldwork in a specified area of practice and within the requirements of ACOTE and the OT Department. Supervision of Level I students is also optional.
Responsibilities
+ Provide occupational therapy services in a specified area of practice in a fieldwork site arranged and negotiated by the faculty member and approved by the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator.
+ Provide fieldwork supervision for specified number of Touro College OT students as approved by the Program Director, Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, and as appropriate for the fieldwork site and students. Supervision of Level I students is optional. Supervision of groups of 4-6 level II FW students per semester is an essential job duty. The total number of students supervised simultaneously must be appropriate for the site, the clients, the student’s competency and need for supervision, and is subject to approval by the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and OT Program Director. Reimbursement is received for groups of 4-6 Touro College level II FW students supervised per semester, only, unless otherwise specified by the OT Program Director, on a trial basis.
+ Ensure that the fieldwork experience is designed to promote clinical reasoning and reflective practice, to transmit the values and beliefs that enable ethical practice, and to develop professionalism and competence in career responsibilities. (ACOTE B.10.14)
+ Ensure that supervision provides protection of the consumers and opportunities for appropriate role modeling of occupational therapy practice (ACOTE B.10.19).
+ Provide the Academic Fieldwork Coordinators with a documented plan for the provision of occupational therapy services and supervision of the student. For level II Fieldwork, Supervision must include a minimum of 8 hours of direct supervision each week of the fieldwork experience. An occupational therapy supervisor must be available, via a variety of contact measures, to the student during all working hours. An on-site supervisor designee of another profession must be assigned while the occupational therapy supervisor is off site. (ACOTE B.10.20)
+ Comply with required procedures of the Occupational Therapy Academic Fieldwork Coordinator including, but not limited to, contracts, reservations, evaluations, deadlines.
+ Notify Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and students of any expected absence and rescheduling.
+ Serve as a professional role model/mentor to students in the areas of equity, fairness, ethics and objectivity, communication skills, and attitudes toward profession, job, school, and work responsibilities. Perform job duties in a dependable, professional, timely, organized fashion.
+ Provide regularly scheduled, ethical, and culturally sensitive supervision of student(s) via a variety of contact measures, during all working hours for the duration of the students’ fieldwork rotation.
+ Provide supervision to students as assigned, including meeting individual students to review plans of care, performance, clinical standing, and overall attitude toward education, current skills, and goals.
+ Notify the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator about any problems or concerns related to student health, academic, or professional behavior within two days of problem recognition.
+ Maintain written documentation on all interactions with students occurring during formal and/or informal supervision sessions.
+ Maintain professionally related clinical competence according to the guidelines and standards of professional accrediting bodies, and/or professional credentialing bodies and licensing entities
+ Maintain evidence of continued professional development through documented attendance at courses and workshops, publications and speaking, and/or research activities.
+ SubmitFieldwork Site and Supervision Descriptionand obtain approval of Academic Fieldwork Coordinator.
Qualifications
+ Currently licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of supervision.
+ A minimum of 3 years of full time (or its equivalent) professional experience as an OT (ACOTE B.10.20);
+ Experience as a level II FW supervisor of OT students.
+ Provide proof of current professional malpractice liability insurance.
+ A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in higher education preferred.
+ Strong inter-personal and communication skills.
+ Documented expertise in their area(s) of practice.
+ Responsibility in and knowledge of supervisory methods.
+ Proficiency in communication through virtual platforms, email, other.
+ Proficiency in utilizing on-line platforms to obtain evidence basis for treatment.
+ Proficiency in utilizing electronic platforms used by the FW site for documentation of health records.
+ This position requires compliance with Touro's Vaccine Mandate policy.
Maximum Salary
USD $62.50/Hr.
Minimum Salary
USD $50.00/Hr.
