Summary
Reporting directly to the Director of the School of Nursing supports the mission, purpose and goals of the Joseph F. McCloskey School of Nursing LVHN Simulation Center. The Simulation Specialist will work collaboratively with the leadership, faculty and staff across the School of Nursing to ensure evidence-based clinical standards and simulation best practices are reflected in all simulation activities. The Simulation Specialist will provide curricular and assessment guidance for educational activities related to simulation. This includes collaboration with school of nursing faculty to design, implement, facilitate and debrief manikin-based, standardized patient, virtual simulation and clinical anatomy programming. The Simulation Specialist will provide instruction and debriefing in a student-based environment that serves many clinical disciplines including fundamental, medical surgical, mental health, obstetrics, pediatrics, advanced medical surgical, and leadership nursing. Occasional (or regular) evening or weekend shifts may be required.
Job DutiesDesign healthcare simulation-based learning and assessment activities that meet specific department/course outcomes Facilitate the adult learning process that creates safe non-threatening environment which supports learning across all levels of academic standing within the school of nursing Implement, facilitate, and debrief simulation-based learning and assessment activities as assigned including mannequin-based, multi-mannequin sessions, multi station-task training, and standardized patients Work collaboratively with the Director of Strategic Development to ensure the labs are properly maintained and operated Create and implement educational programs for new simulation faculty including prebriefing, simulation and debriefing Participates in faculty and departmental meetings to assist int he development and implementation of simulation experiences, and actively participates in accreditation activities Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum QualificationsMaster’s Degree Nursing, from an accredited school 2 years in clinical and classroom nursing education with working knowledge of curriculum development and assessment and 2 years in simulation-based education and training, evaluation of outcomes, patient safety, and implementation of innovative simulation-based education and training programs BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association Upon Hire RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire CHSE - Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator - Society for Simulation in Healthcare Within 2 Years
Preferred QualificationsDoctorate health profession or education related discipline from an accredited school 5 years in clinical and classroom nursing education with working knowledge of curriculum development and assessment ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - American Heart Association
Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
