With approximately 100,300 ED visits annually, the CHA Emergency Departments are fast-paced, constantly changing environments with rapid patient turnover.
Summary:
Clinical social workers within the Psychiatric Emergency Service are vital members of a multi-disciplinary treatment team. The clinical social worker works closely with nurses, physician assistants, and physicians in a fast-paced, high stress environment, and is under the clinical supervision of the psychiatrist. The social worker completes psychiatric assessments, provides crisis counseling, and implements treatment planning for patients in the Psychiatric Emergency Service. The social worker identifies appropriate resources and obtains collateral information as needed by patients and family members undergoing evaluation in the Psychiatric Emergency Service. The social worker provides clinical service and case management resources in the Main Emergency Department at designated periods and when not providing psychiatric service in the Psychiatric Emergency Service. The diversity of the client population served in addition to the treatment modalities utilized requires interdisciplinary expertise and collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Training: Masters degree, Social Work Licensure: Current MA licensure as LCSW Certifications: Must be credentialed by the CHA Medical Staff for practice in relevant clinical practice areas. Previous Experience: Minimum of two years post masters degree experience with acute psychiatric population required.Physical Skills: Successful completion of physical agility assessment.
