General Summary

Under general supervision, performs psychosocial assessments, arranges transfers and placement of patients needing inpatient treatment, makes referral to outpatient mental health and substance abuse services, communicates with outside providers for coordination of care, coordination of Telepsych assessment, and completes all needed paperwork for placement (both involuntary and voluntary). Patient served include neonate through adult-geriatric.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

 

Licensure in social work in the State of Maryland.Must have a master's degree in social work, two years of social work in a hospital setting or social agency is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of general counseling and assessment skillsAbility to conduct psychosocial assessmentsKnowledge of regulations of both involuntary and voluntary mental health placementUnderstanding of crisis interventionsKnowledge and skills to provide social counseling appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must have knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needsThe ability to ensure the confidentiality and rights of all patient and departmental documents is requiredAdditional Information

Compensation:

Pay Range: $38.53-$40
