As a Speech Pathologist, you will perform diagnostic speech pathology test procedures and evaluate communication and swallowing function of patients. You will interpret and report test results to facilitate medical diagnosis, provide counseling and education to patients and their families, and determine therapeutic plans. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM - 4:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Select assistive speech devices to improve patient's communication. Perform re-evaluation to determine progress after therapy. Provide observations about hearing and other behavior to help determine the need for other services. Maintain records of all services. Communicate results and recommendations for improving communicative function to referral sources and outside agencies such schools and employers. Maintain speech pathology equipment and materials. Assist with planning, budget, service or project development, fee setting, purchase of new equipment or materials.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Master’s Degree in Speech/Language PathologySpeech-Language Pathology License (SP) from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & AudiologySpeech Pathologist (SP) license in current stateCertification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA)Completion of a nine-month clinical fellowship yearOur caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
