Clinical Staff Pharmacist ED Evening shift

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides pharmaceutical service and care to all patient populations including neonates, infants, children, adults and geriatrics based on individual variables and disease state. This care is provided through the most recent concepts of drug utilization and control which is the sum total of knowledge, understanding, judgement, procedure, skills, controls and ethics that ensure optimal safety in the distribution and use of medications. All pharmacists are required to understand and maintain the patient specific aspects of care in dosing patients based on age, weight, renal function and preparing individual inpatient and outpatient prescription orders and refilling medications. EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy with a five year Bachelor’s Degree in pharmacy or a six year entry level Pharmacy D. degree. Completion of pharmacy internship and licensure as a Registered Pharmacist by passing examination of the NY State Board of Pharmacy or by the reciprocal licensure. Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. **Hospital or Ambulatory care experience required for day shift** SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS: All department equipment and supplies. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS: Office and Clinical Setting; Exposure Class II – no exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions. Rare/infrequent exposure to chemicals with the potential to cause skin/mucus membrane irritation. Prepares potentially carcinogenic drugs (chemotherapy). PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Medium work: must be able to lift, bend, stoop, push and pull. WORK CONTACT GROUP: All services, employees, medical staff, patients, visitors, vendors, various regulatory and professional agencies. SUPERVISED BY: Pharmacy Management Team SUPERVISES: Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Interns EXPECTATIONS: · Provides pharmaceutical care/services to all patient care populations. · Performs various pharmaceutical duties such as compounding, narcotic filling, interpreting and preparing individual inpatient and outpatient prescription orders, and refilling medications. · Provider of drug information for all health care providers. · Adheres to safety standards within service or unit. · Performs required sterilization techniques for IV/chemotherapy preparations. · Adheres to established hospital policy and procedure related to job function. · Maintains confidentiality related to patients, staff and visitors. · Effectively educates the patient/family in specialty area. · Adheres to hospital confidentiality statement. Pay Range: $55.00- $81.60 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
