Clinical Supervisor

Job Summary 

The Clinical Supervisor is a core member of IRC in Denver’s Health and Wellness department. They will directly oversee the Survivor of Torture program (also called the Survivor Wellness Center), and the Family Stabilization Services while also acting as the clinical point-person for IRC Denver. This position reports to the Health and Wellness Manager. 

Under a grant awarded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), IRC in Denver provides holistic services to support survivors and their families in their rehabilitation from torture. Services include in-house case management, psychosocial support, and immigration legal services, as well as medical and mental health care through community partners. The SOT program also aims to enhance the community of care for survivors of torture through capacity building for service providers, policy makers and educational institutions. This includes ongoing service provider outreach and engagement efforts, as well as a multidisciplinary consortium that brings service providers together to learn, develop best practices, and provide peer consultation and support. The SOT program currently serves more than 150 torture survivors, most of whom are seeking asylum. 

Family Stabilization Services supports ORR-eligible clients who are facing barriers to integration because of safety or severe mental health concerns. Clients may be experiencing domestic violence, trauma and mental illness, suicidal ideation, child welfare or elder abuse concerns, or substance abuse. Family Stabilization Specialists work together with clients to build skills that benefit stability and self-sufficiency, while also addressing mental health needs and building individual sense of empowerment and skills that support their resilience. FSS may lead psychosocial groups, and work with family units. FSS was housed within IRC and served clients resettled through IRC, Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains and the African Community Center. In October 2024, FSS program will be expanded to other organizations also serving ORR-eligible populations. 

The Clinical Supervisor role encompasses a range of responsibilities, including onboarding, supervising and consulting with clinically trained staff and interns, guiding and overseeing implementation of mental health case management and psychosocial programming, ensuring routine monitoring of services and quality, engaging in capacity building efforts as needed to support access to high quality services, facilitating supervision and training opportunities for staff and interns, and promoting a positive working environment and strong professional development opportunities for the clinically trained members and interns of the Health and Wellness department.

This is a limited term position ending 9/29/2025, with the opportunity to extend. 

 

Major Responsibilities: 
Staff Supervision and Support

Provide individual supervision to clinical staff in the Health and Wellness department and facilitate weekly team meetings for SOT and FSS programs.Support in the provision of mental health case management services, with respect to unique program goals.Support the team in appropriately applying clinical case management tools, mental health screeners, and setting goals with clients. Ensures appropriate staff-to-client ratios in alignment with field standards. Maintain high awareness of and attention to client confidentiality, HIPAA, and relevant rules and policies. Ensure mental health staff are trained in core competencies to deliver quality care to clients. Ensure program and staff compliance with related federal, state, and local licensing regulations; maintain familiarity with Colorado statues and rules and ensures program compliance. Design and deliver trainings to build the capacity of IRC Denver staff in trauma informed care practices, basic safety planning, and mental health needs of refugees, asylees and survivors of torture.Support FSS and SOT staff in the development and facilitation of responsive psychosocial support services program. Ensure clinical services meet the standards of cultural competence and linguistic appropriateness.Support the exchange of ideas, encourage camaraderie and a community of collaboration.

Program Administration

Manage incoming referrals, support teams in assessing appropriateness of fit for IRC mental health programs and services.Document and case-note safety support or any direct program services provided to clients.As needed, implement client satisfaction and progress surveys, integrate feedback into service design and delivery.Support with general program management tasks including reviewing and auditing client treatment plans with staff, case termination, and assigning/reassigning staff caseloads. As needed, develop processes and systems related to program quality, operations, and direct services.

Program Supervision

Act as primary focal point for SOT and FSS clinical case management, within IRC and with external partners. Assist with grant compliance, data tracking, and timely grant reporting for FSS and SOT programs. Lead program staff in understanding and meeting program deliverables. Support in budget tracking and program expenditures, ensure adherence to program budgets.Support program staff, interns and volunteers in providing trauma-informed, linguistically and culturally appropriate services.Manage practicum and other intern placements through onboarding and ongoing supervision.As needed, coordinate with volunteers and provide direction for volunteers working with vulnerable clients.

Community Capacity Building

Participate in community meetings and cultivate relationships with community partners to expand client access to services.Educate partners on best practices in working with refugees, asylees, or survivors of torture.Lead monthly consultation meetings between IRC FSS and other Family Stabilization Services grantees.

Other Duties

Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities, and fully engage as a member of the department.Comply with all policies, procedures, and protocols, including Safeguarding and the IRC Way.Participate in the creation or revision of IRC Denver policies, procedures, or guidelines related to client and staff safety and wellbeing. Assist in preparing funding proposals as requested.Perform other duties as requested.

Job Requirements: 

Education: 

Master’s degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, or counseling. 

Certificates or Licenses:

Valid independent clinical license, from the State of Colorado; either Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).License must be current and in good standing. Must have a valid driver’s license, active insurance policy and access to reliable transportation.

Work Experience: 

3+ years of experience as a behavioral health/mental health clinician providing clinical and/or case management services.Previous experience in supervisory role overseeing both clinical staff and program implementation.Experience working with a full range of psychological disorders and providing trauma treatment.Experience working with forcibly displaced populations preferred (refugees, asylum seekers, torture survivors, foreign nationals or other vulnerable populations).Experience working effectively with service partners, colleagues, and clients in a cross-cultural, team-based environment.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

Ability to effectively lead teams with enthusiasm and positivity.Skills in clinical diagnosis, mandatory reporting, suicide assessment, and safety planning.Understanding of the systems that intersect with migration and resettlement. Strong organizational skills, with digital literacy. Excellent writing and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to lead trainings and work in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment.Ability to work independently.

Language Skills: 

Excellent written and spoken English skills.Bilingual ability a plus. 

Working Environment: 

A combination of standard office environment and remote work.Staff are required to adhere to IRC’s COVID-19 risk mitigation policies, which may include masking, physical distancing, enhanced hygiene practices, symptom screening, and isolation and quarantine when needed. IRC policies may be stricter than federal, state, or local level policies.Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required. 

 

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
