**Responsibilities:**
Office/clinical support in the Surgical Pathology Unit of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Assists the other Clinical Lab Support Tech IIIs with reception and specimen (pathology slides and blocks) receiving and send-out duties. Provides other clerical support to the unit as needed.
- Handle phone calls from clinicians or clinician's offices requesting reports or updates on specimen processing, and email/call pathologist to provide update. Manage requests from outside locations for retrieval of our material and sends out via FedEx or courier. Maintain log to ensure return of our material. Track blocks/slides to Bailey road for send-out testing. Pull slides for conference, scanning and/or pathologist request/review. Fax reports to outside locations. Understands TAT for material processing and familiarity of LIS system.
- Serves as backup to other support staff and as general support for the pathologists and laboratory supervisors and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree in Laboratory Sciences and technical training closely related to this position required
- 1 year of laboratory experience preferred
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
