**Responsibilities:**
GENERAL PURPOSE
With general direction and supervision, supports the daily operations of the Histology Laboratory. As part of a team manages tissue processor maintenance, slide stainer maintenance, slide distribution, and assists in managing the supply inventory. Performs some clerical functions such as printing and collating reports, filing and scanning into the LIS system. General knowledge of human anatomy helpful. May be trained to support other areas in the Surgical Pathology Department as needed. Ability to lift 25lbs required.
**Responsibilities**
+ Manage machine maintenance for tissue processors and routine slide stainer. 50%
+ Triage slides to proper pathologist based upon sign out schedule. 25%
+ Prints, scans and files paperwork as instructed. 15%
+ Monitors inventory of items and alerts supervisor to needs. Unpack and stock inventory as it arrives. 5%

**Knowledge & Experience**
+ Associate's degree in Laboratory Sciences and technical training closely related to this position required
+ 1 year of laboratory experience preferred
+ Or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
