Clinical Technician I -- Emergency Department

This means Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital's Emergency Department is fully prepared to provide 24/7 critical care through immediate service, superior care and peace of mind. As a Clinical Technician, you'll have the opportunity to grow and thrive in your career as you provide or assist with basic direct patient care activities under the supervision of an RN. **A caregiver in this role works variable days, 7:00 p.m.-7:30 a.m. and every other weekend and every other holiday.** A caregiver who excels in this role, will: + Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to RN. + These include but are not limited to vital signs, weights, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, application of external monitoring devices, and further technical skills of phlebotomy, clean dressing changes, 12-lead ECG's, and insertion of urinary Foley Catheters. + Assist with keeping patient rooms clean & orderly. + Demonstrate a positive, concerned and sensitive response in the workplace. + Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients and staff. + Demonstrate an ability to read, write and speak English and to follow oral and written instructions. + Possess ability to perform basic clinical mathematics. + Demonstrate competencies in both the professional, technical and clinical knowledge domains in a safe, effective and efficient manner. + Maintain personal growth and development through the ongoing process of formal and informal education. Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include: + High school diploma or GED + Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) required within new hire period + Nursing Students are required to has BLS prior to hire + One year of recent, full-time patient care experience + Demonstrates proficiency in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at an 8th grade level Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include: + Additional education/training may substitute for some of the stated experience + Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience. + Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered.
