Shockwave Medical, Inc., recently acquired by Johnson Johnson, is a pioneer in the development and commercialization of Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) to treat complex calcified cardiovascular disease. Shockwave Medical aims to establish a new standard of care for medical device treatment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease through its differentiated and proprietary local delivery of sonic pressure waves for the treatment of calcified plaque.

Position Overview

The Shockwave Clinical Training Associate (CTA) Program is a two-year program designed to provide the necessary development for a career in the competitive and rewarding medical device industry. During their time at Shockwave headquarters, the CTA will have the opportunity to learn from the best sales and marketing talent in the organization.

Following successful completion of this target two-year development program, the Clinical Training Associate will be positioned to interview for positions of greater responsibility, such as Field Clinical Specialist or Marketing Associate, within the Shockwave sales and marketing organizations. This opportunity may require additional relocation.

The Clinical Training Associate (CTA) is responsible for supporting the development, logistics and execution of marketing, training and education programs as directed by the Associate Director, Sales Training. This person will progress through a development pathway within Shockwave Medical that sees them progressively handling more responsibilities while providing agile support to the sales and marketing organization. Initially, the CTA must successfully complete Shockwave’s entire new hire training and onboarding program. Based on their development progress, additional responsibilities may include supporting local and national conferences, providing event support to marketing and medical education teams, delivering product demonstrations and value proposition messages, building and delivering training content, and providing customer case support. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs.

Essential Job Functions

Complete onboarding and new hire clinical and product training. Learn and manage all relevant systems, including Allego. Support product, disease state and clinical skills-based training programs for the field sales organization in alignment with goals and strategies. Support the execution of in-person, virtual, and/or hybrid product training programs for new hires and tenured employees. Collaborate with and support product marketing team to create, launch, and evaluate effectiveness of appropriate content for field sales force. Establish and develop key internal and external relationships, including cross functional teams, field teams and thought leaders. Collaborate and partner with sales and marketing teams and leadership to continually identify new trends and needs. Support Key Customer Visits as directed by Medical Education team. Deliver product demonstrations, in-services, and value propositions. Attend and provide booth support for customers at local and national conferences, as needed by the events team and field sales organization. Attend, observe and support physician customers in procedures as directed by Sales Training and to assist the field sales organization. Backfill vacant territories as assigned.

Position will be located in Shockwave’s Santa Clara, CA facility; the ability to relocate to a field-based location may be required upon conclusion of the initial program. Must have strong track record of academic and other demonstrated leadership and/or participation in campus/community service activities. Must be a team player, results-driven and solution-oriented. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Up to 50% travel, depending on business needs. Ability and willingness to travel within the United States for multiple weeks at a time is required. A valid driver's license issued in the United States and must successfully complete a background investigation, to include a review of your driving record history. Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future is required.

Additional Information:

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $73,000 to $117,300 annually.The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
