Clinical Trials Proj Mgr II
GENERAL PURPOSE: The position will support a multidisciplinary federally funded research project related to the ethics of community-based environmental health and housing research. Responsibilities include both project management and research assistance with a mixed-methods study that will include reviewing home environmental exposure literature, interviewing housing experts and research study participants, and developing a toolkit to support return of individual research results to participants in home environmental exposure studies. With minimum direction and considerable latitude for independent judgment, the position will provide project management (PM) support. PM Support includes coordination and documentation of resources and timeline for research projects under direction of co-Principal Investigators (PIs). The position will assist the PI’s with organizing research interviews, arranging and participating in advisory board meetings, analysis of materials and coordination between MPIs and co-Investigators, as well as provide logistical support to the PIs of the study and related programs. The position will conduct qualitative interviews and surveys, transcript deidentification, data management and sharing, and analysis of the (primarily qualitative) data. Significant effort will be devoted to project management, including coordination with co-investigators at three institutions outside the University of Rochester, management of a diverse external advisory board, and overseeing human subjects’ protections. This position is primarily in-person to facilitate interaction with the research team, but some remote work may be possible at certain stages of the research. The role should have training and experience in qualitative and mixed methods research, literature reviews, research coordination, and project management., as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Candidates who do not meet this requirement will not be considered for the position. **JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** **Research Conduct and Management** : + Conducts research, analysis, summarizes findings, and develops communication tools. Supports translation of research through presentation and publication. + Develops research instruments (interview guides and surveys) in conjunction with the PIs, supports human subjects review and protection activities, participates in data collection, conducts interviews, and analyzes qualitative and quantitative data. + Supervises research assistants responsible for transcription, coding, and analysis of interview and survey data. + Summarizes research findings and develops communication tools. Supports development of the research ethics toolkit. + Conducts literature searches and analyzes existing research on report-back ethics, housing research, and home environmental exposures. + Develops/maintains knowledge of literature, cutting edge research, leaders in the field, and professional groups (listservs) related to housing-based environmental exposures. + Assists in the dissemination of study results through study meetings, publications, and conference presentations. **Partnership Development, Coordination, and Support** : + Creates and supports coordination between the University of Rochester investigators, external investigators, Stakeholder Advisory Board and community partners. Schedules, administers, and supports meetings of these groups. Works to strengthen multidirectional engagement between research and external stakeholders to develop environmental health solutions. + Builds and maintains research team and stakeholder relationships. Establishes and executes a project communication plan and provides regular project updates to project team and PIs. **Project Coordination:** + Develops and strengthens engagement with external partners. Manages communications, administration (e.g. stipends), schedules and supports meetings and interviews, maintains meeting minutes, and organizes project documents and data. + Manages research project by coordinating and documenting resources, tasks, and timelines. Initiates or authorizes orders for resources that could include, but not be limited to, space, equipment, vendors, web-based or onsite meetings. + Produces translational materials, such as presentations, posters, brochures, and other deliverables. Develops and maintains project plans and timelines. + Ensures research team stays up-to-date and informed through the communication and distribution of meeting agendas, the timely documentation of key discussion topics and action items. Ensures team stays on track to deliver objectives and ensures project goals are met within an approved timeline. + Assists with selecting, training, and supervising researcher assistants. + Develops and establishes procedures and schedules to meet project needs. + Develops and maintains study records and protocols. + Provides administrative and logistical support to the co-PIs. **Other projects and job duties as assigned.** **QUALIFICATIONS:** + Bachelor’s Degree required. + Master’s Degree preferred. + 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. + 1-2 years of related experience working with community stakeholders (any combination of community group, government, public health professional, private sector, and educators) preferred. + Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, including written communication required. + Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including diverse community groups and professionals required. + Experience with quantitative and qualitative research techniques, research coordination, data management, project management, and possesses strong analytical ability required. + Familiarity with environmental public health issues, policy, and practice (particularly housing/built environment) with ability to quickly learn topically-relevant information and communicate research findings required. + Sufficient training or experience in a related scientific field is required to be able to read, analyze, and code environmental exposure research literature (e.g. environmental health, engineering, public health, etc.) required. + Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, internet search techniques, and ability to learn new software quickly required. + Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, PubMed, Endnote, Atlasti (or other qualitative analysis software) and REDCap required. + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required. + Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends when needed for interviews, meetings, or conferences required. + Ability to work well with others as part of a team as well as independently required. + Experience with community-based research, housing quality, and environmental health required.
