About UPMC Mercy: Mercy is home to a recovery-focused Addiction Medicine program for those suffering with addiction to prescription medication, drugs, or alcohol. This in-hospital service is a medically managed detoxification unit. UPMC Mercy is also Western Pennsylvania’s only hospital with a combined Level I Regional Resource Trauma Center and Comprehensive Burn Center under one roof. Home to our Rehabilitation Institute, one of the leading rehabilitation programs in the United States, UPMC Mercy also boasts a dedicated Comprehensive Stroke Center, accredited by the Joint and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. 

About the Position: As a Clinician in the 6A Withdrawal Management department, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to patients experiencing substance withdrawal. 6A is an 18-bed unit licensed by the PA Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP), where we offer a safe environment for the treatment of physical chemical dependence, medical stabilization, and tools and education to begin substance use rehabilitation. 

Key Responsibilities:

Work with specially certified doctors, nurses, counselors, and social workers to deliver exceptional round-the-clock patient care

Assist in staff coverage, with over 50% of your shifts dedicated to this, providing support where needed.

Use evidence-based assessment tools and pharmacologic intervention to manage patients’ withdrawal.

Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care and treatment plans.

Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in addiction or behavioral health care

BSN required

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Salary shown reflects the Senior Clinician pay range (requires minimum of 4 years of nursing experience and a Certification). Candidates may be offered a Clinician title and salary based on their education and experience.

Assumes formal leadership responsibilities for one or more of the following: quality improvement, evidence-based practice, GN or new hire on-boarding. Assists the Unit/Department Leader with the peer review process.
