**Key Responsibilities:**
+ **Lead the Charge:** Oversee cleanup efforts and long-term operations at the most complex sites, ensuring they meet the highest environmental standards and community safety.
+ **Investigate & Innovate:** Conduct in-depth hydrogeologic investigations to uncover the extent of contamination and assess the risks to our precious aquifers.
+ **Data Detective:** Collect, analyze, and synthesize environmental data to inform strategic decisions and database management.
+ **Collaborate & Create:** Work alongside a talented team of scientists and engineers, providing your hydrologic expertise to enhance active remediation projects and special initiatives.
+ **Champion Compliance:** Stay ahead of regulations and maintain a thorough understanding of the Closed Landfill Program (CLP) to ensure best practices in environmental management.
+ **Engage & Educate:** Communicate findings to stakeholders and the community, translating complex data into clear, actionable insights.
+ **Resource Management:** Assist in budget development and resource allocation to maximize project impact and efficiency.
**Minimum Qualifications**
The incumbent is required to possess working knowledge of chemistry, toxicology, and hydrology with skills and abilities necessary to provide technical review and recommendations for complex closed landfill remediation projects and provide leadership to less experienced hydrologists.
A Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Hydrology, Geology; Hydrogeology or related degree **with** (3) three years of professional experience as a Hydrologist or equivalent. Experience must include hydrologic project oversight and remediation of contaminated sites.
AND
Demonstrated ability to design, conduct and coordinate hydrological field investigations.
Good communication, problem solving, and negotiation skills.
Possess a valid Driver's license (see additional requirements).

**Preferred Qualifications**
Demonstrated experience working with closed landfills or other remediation projects.
Knowledge of the Minnesota Landfill Cleanup Act, state and federal solid and hazardous waste rules, and the State's Drilling and Sampling/ Analytical Contracts.
Technical knowledge of contaminant chemical characteristics, fate and transport, migration tendencies and public health risks of releases to the environment.
Demonstrated success in evaluating options and choosing appropriate methods for remediating complex contaminated sites in a timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex and technical data, reports, and problems.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, meeting short deadlines while also ensuring high quality results protective of human health.
Demonstrated ability to lead other program staff and contractors sufficient to meet established timetables and quality standards and complete program objectives.
Human Relations skills sufficient to build networks of colleagues throughout the public and private sectors and to effectively persuade interested parties, private sector, and other government officials by understanding complex and competing relationships and political agendas.
Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex information to the public.
**Physical Requirements**
Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small equipment. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
**Additional Requirements**
A driver's license is an essential function of this position. This requires possession of an unrestricted Class D Driver's License. The job offer is contingent on confirmation of a valid driver's license AND a satisfactory DLR check.
Requires a Class D driver's License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver's license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
