About the job
The CI Cloud Engineering Team is looking for a Cloud Database Engineer to help build, maintain, and evangelize our cloud based data storage solutions. Our team is the tip of the spear for cloud technologies within SAS Customer Intelligence. We answer the question of, “We have code, what do we do with it?”. Our team owns the cloud infrastructure, build systems, CI/CD frameworks, security solutions, and Kubernetes Environments for the Customer Intelligence division.
As a Cloud Database Engineer, you will:
Design and develop high quality, testable and scalable software solutions within established timelines while adhering to R&D best practices and processes
Work with the R&D team to design highly scalable and reliable database services in the cloud
Influence, develop, and communicate database best practices for microservices to an R&D division
Participate in project scoping and scheduling; tracks progress of individual tasks and alerts stakeholders of issues blocking or preventing completion of task
Serve as a technical expert of cloud database related technologies
Understand and recommend steps to reduce waste within our cloud environments
Analyze production workloads to identify problems and bottlenecks within the system
Work as part of a larger team to complete large projects
Embed with software development teams to fix and improve their use of cloud based database technologies
Sphere of influence: Within the Cloud Engineering team with interaction with the CI360 division
Required Qualifications
Five (5) years of experience with cloud based database technologiesBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related quantitative fieldEquivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.Demonstrated experience in one or more Object Oriented Programming Languages. (I.e. Python or GoLang)
Advanced proficiency in SQL
Demonstrated experience of Cloud Computing. (e.g. AWS, GCP, or Azure)
Demonstrated experience with AWS specific Database services a Plus (e.g. DynamoDB, Aurora, RDS)
Deep understanding of managing large-scale databases in cloud environments (e.g. PostgreSQL and MySQL)
Knowledgeable in Infrastructure as Code and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes. Experienced in using Git for trunk-based development, with the ability to articulate best practices.You’re curious, passionate, authentic and accountable.
