The Cloud Engineer will be part of a dynamic team that provides IT support, maintenance, operations, logistics, and engineering services to help ensure the secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of INL/A Management Information Systems. This role will provide cloud engineering support to the Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics, and Law Enforcement Affairs Office of Aviation (INL/A) in support of their missions to sustain the national security and economic interests of our nation. Responsibilities Collaborate with the client to architect, secure, and deploy Cloud systems to fit the mission's needs. Recommend tools and capabilities based on your research of the current environment and knowledge of various on-premises, Cloud-based, and hybrid resources. Work with clients and fellow engineers to inform strategy and architecture design in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment. Architecting cloud solutions and implementing networking and security best practices Create documentation artifacts for existing and newly deployed solutions for our technical baseline and O&M teams. Prepare briefing materials on proposed uses of cloud technologies for internal program boards and customer forums. Interact with cloud service providers for service provisioning. Perform resolution of complex hardware, environmental software operating systems, and subsystems. Oversee problem avoidance actions in the Cloud hosting environments. Implement changes to business information and technical systems. Integrate cloud solutions with existing networks and systems. Cloud Architecture Design and implementation Migration of systems to hybrid or cloud-based solutions. Cloud-based Web and database configuration, migration, and implementation. Perform DevOps scripting and coding. Perform and support both engineering and coding tasks. Travel may be required for special projects. (CONUS, OCONUS) Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR Associate’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience Education requirement may be substituted with 4+ years of relevant experience Experience with Microsoft Azure and AWS Cloud technologies. Experience working with code repository management, code merge and quality checks, continuous integration, and automated deployment and management using tools such as Jenkins, Git, Puppet, Chef, Maven, Ant, Ivy, Terraform, Ansible, and Docker. Secret clearance required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge and hands-on experience across the catalog of cloud technologies. Experience supporting software development projects utilizing cloud technologies. Experience in defining and managing the roadmap for implementation of DevOps in an established operation. Experience working in a structured environment, including the use of structured methods, approaches, and modern development tools. Experience with technical architecture, that is, the design and delivery of IT systems for a broad range of clients. Strong experience designing, building, maintaining, and securing cloud resources for high-availability and production-level systems and services. Experience migrating systems to hybrid or fully cloud-based solutions. Experience with Unix / Linux /Windows. Knowledge of scripting and coding. Knowledge of database engineering and design for storage-based and transactional applications. Experience with troubleshooting, including cloud networking capabilities and security protocols. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
