The Cloud Engineer II is primarily responsible for the support of internal and customer physical and virtual computing systems with a fundamental understanding of those specialties including any associated automation. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to successfully analyze and perform technical and process-based problem resolution with an emphasis on customer satisfaction. The candidate must be well versed in Cloud technologies and display a desire to continuously grow and improve both technical and soft skills.

Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the assigned task(s),functional area(s) or project(s)Manage your assigned tickets to ensure SLA compliance and customer satisfactionProvide operational support in response to monitoring alerts and resolve incidentsRespond quickly and effectively to production issues and take responsibility for seeing those issues through resolutionTriage and escalate tickets according to QTS policySupport VMware ESXi and similar technologies on various hardware platformsMonitor, diagnose and troubleshoot issues on Windows and Linux platforms by using diagnostic tools, commands, utilities, monitoring toolsDeliver customer-focused support through phone calls and ticket-based communicationsConsistently demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processHelp plan and execute scheduled system maintenance activities including, hardware and software upgrades; software and application patchingHelp plan and execute capacity monitoring and managementHelp plan and execute functional test planning and testing for assigned functional area(s) or project(s)•Proactively create procedures to prevent/reduce severity of outagesProactively analyze system performance and identify improvement opportunitiesCreate/update infrastructure documentation to include environment technical diagrams, workbooks, etc.Write/update or review Change Requests, MOPs, and similar documentationWork with the24x7x365 Operations Service Center and be flexible in availability as neededBASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experienceFive or more years of progressive IT engineering experienceProficient in deploying and upgrading private cloud environments according to best practices using current versions of VMware vCenter Server and ESXiProficient in configuring network virtualization technologies (NSX)•Proficient in configuring High Availability and clustering Proficient in various protocols/services such as SMTP, SNMP, SSL, SSH and DNSCompetent in deploying and administering Windows, CentOS and Red Hat operating systemsCompetent understanding of Python, Ansible, PowerShell, and/or JavaScript/JSON/REST APICompetent in hardening Operating Systems in accordance with compliance standards and policyCompetent understanding of BGP peering, HSRP and IP subnettingExperience with Active Directory and Exchange administration on an enterprise levelExperience with IT monitoring systemsUS Citizenship for this position is required by law due to federal customer contractsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Four or more or years of Systems Administration/Engineering experience, with a focus on virtualizationOne of more systems-focused certifications (VCP-DCV, MCSA/MCSE, RHSE/RHSA, etc.)One or more additional technology professional certifications (CompTia A+, Network+, etc.)•Prior experience working in a Data Center environmentStrong knowledge of Python, Ansible, PowerShell, and/or JavaScript/JSON/REST APIKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong technical troubleshooting skillsAbility to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and colleaguesOrderly documentation, time management, and planning skillsExcellent written and oral communication, problem solving ,and process management skills.Ability to work well within a team environment in a matrixed organization.Strong customer relations skillsAbility to learn and apply new technology and methodologies in a distributed environmentTOTAL REWARDS
