KBR is seeking a Cloud Engineer Senior (AWS) to support our GSMO Program for KBR’s Science and Space division. 

KBR is looking for a Cloud Engineer Senior to support the Engineering tasks for our mission operations environment at NASA. As a Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day design, development, implementation, and operations of the cloud platform (AWS) for IT operations services using scalable technologies in a mission critical environment. You should be able to explore existing systems for reuse and guide the team in designing new systems with appropriate technology preferably scalable AWS cloud-based technologies. You will work with systems and network engineers, IT Security, mission leaders, and flight operations engineers in designing, planning, and developing the solution and/or design requirements. You will participate and support innovative strategies to ensure smooth running of your product, prioritizing system improvements to address compliance and improve resiliency.

You will need to be a key-player, supporting technical aspects of a team of engineers and collaborative work with other support groups for the design, development, implementation, maintenance, configuration management and quality control of the hosting infrastructure for ensuring a stable/secure/highly available network computing environment in support of critical mission operations. The Engineer will ensure the maintenance, configuration, and installation of the systems and product deliverable are met in accordance with the operational and compliance requirements. You will set standards for system design and configurations, along with setting baselines for our technology stack.

Objectives and responsibilities of this Role

Participates in a mission-driven culture of high-quality performance, with a member focus on customer service, consistency, dignity, and accountabilityDesigns, develops, and deploys cloud-based systems and services, in collaboration with Architects and in accordance with best practices and strategic directionLeads and optimizes cloud infrastructure initiatives and assists other departments with moving their workloads to the cloudLeads large sized and complex projects including but not limited to planning, developing, testing, and implementing new projectsCompiles and updates cloud reference architecture as well as provides support for AWS Cloud, SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS Integrations, along with other cloud services.Works closely with and advises Information Security on cloud vulnerabilities and threats by identifying, analyzing, and resolving infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.Develops, implements and testis data contingency/disaster recovery planning.Participate as necessary in the validation matrix role to independently test and validate solutions to ensure fulfillment of all business requirements, compliance of regulations and quality of solutionsResponsible for collaborating and defining policies, procedures, and technical documentation including reports, design, maintenance, operational, and support proceduresResponsible for the on-going development of automation strategiesEngage with upper management and stakeholders with requirements, status reports, activity summaries, and achievements

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

Communicate with stakeholders to identify their needs and visionsStandardize and automate processes and monitoring using scripting and advance technologies offered by the data centerInstall and configure operating systems, software, and hardware components, and clearly document the design, maintenance, and support procedures for routine tasks to leverage IT support staff.Conduct high-level root-cause analysis for service interruption and establish preventive measures.Create reports and documentation out-lining findings and solution; oversee the overall backup strategy and daily operations for secure backups and restore testing.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, or a related field required.7+ years of experience working with AWS, RHEL, Windows Servers and Active Directory (AD) required.Experience leveraging cloud environment and service-oriented architecture principles to define and own solution architecture (applications and data technologies)Experience with private-cloud backup and recovery Experience in a multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environment requiredStrong interpersonal, written, oral communication skills Strong time-management and priority management skills Problem solving skills in diagnosing and troubleshooting technical issues along with root cause analysis is neededTechnical project management, dependability, initiative, and professionalism are of the utmost importanceResponding promptly to customer needs, responding to request for service and assistance, meeting commitments is keyExperience working in a process‐oriented environment in compliance with ITIL standardsStrong understanding of network protocols and principles (OSI network layers, TCP/IP) Experience with designing/managing virtual infrastructures (VMWare/Nutanix/Hyper-V) Expertise in creating, analyzing, and maintaining large-scale infrastructure/cloud deployments 

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

AWS Cloud-based certificationsFamiliar with the ELK Stack with emphasis on Elastic SearchConfiguration Management (CM) experience (Ansible/Puppet/Chef)Familiar with Containers (Docker/Kubernetes)Proven ability to think outside-of-the-boxTechnical documentation skillsFamiliar with HA environmentsInfrastructure migration experience
