About the team
Worldpay powers 2.2 trillion payments annually across 146 countries in over 135 separate currencies with over a million-merchants supported globally. Worldpay is the largest acquirer by volume globally, we provide a reliable, secure, and scalable payments platform 24x7 365 day a year.
Being part of the 200 strong Infrastructure Services organization, you’ll help to engineer and deliver the core infrastructure services that power our payments platform. We’re responsible for running some very critical systems, maintaining 20,000 servers via an automation platform, thousands of databases and petabytes of storage hosted from our data centres and public cloud.
We are looking for talented individuals to join the Infrastructure Services organisation; you’ll be a self-starter, possess an analytical mindset and be a change agent.
What you'll own
The Cloud Leader is responsible for overseeing the strategy, implementation, and management of cloud computing solutions within the organization. This role involves leading a team of cloud professionals, working closely with other IT departments and business units, and ensuring the optimal performance, security, and cost-efficiency of cloud-based systems and services
Strategic Planning and Leadership:Develop and execute the organization's cloud strategy in alignment with business objectives.Lead the cloud architecture and engineering teams to design, implement, and manage scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure.Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and trends, providing strategic recommendations for future growth and enhancementsCloud Operations Management:Oversee the deployment, management, and optimization of cloud services, ensuring high availability and performance.Monitor cloud usage and expenditures, implementing cost-control measures and optimizing resource allocation with reporting to all business units.Establish and enforce cloud governance policies, including security, compliance, and data privacy standards.Create, Enforce and Manage SLA delivery for Cloud Solutions teams and Vendors for the provided services of such services.Team Management:Lead, mentor, and manage a team of cloud engineers, architects, and administrators.Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, encouraging professional development and continuous learning.Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of projects related to Cloud Based delivery solutions, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.System Architecture: Design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient Cloud Based solutions, including virtualized infrastructure, Shared services, networking, storage, and security solutions.Vendor Management: Collaborate with vendors, senior leaders and service providers to evaluate and procure hardware, software, and services for Cloud Solutions.Risk Management and Compliance:Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans for cloud-based systems.Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards related to cloud computing and data securityIncident Response and Problem Resolution: Lead the response to system incidents, troubleshoot complex issues, and coordinate with the team to resolve problems promptly and minimize impact on operations.Training and Development: Provide training, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the organization.Stakeholder Communication: Communicate with key stakeholders, including IT leadership, business executives, and Application teams, to provide updates on system initiatives, address concerns, and solicit feedback to improve services.Where you’ll own it - Bucharest, Romania

What you bring
Experience: 8+ years of experience in IT, with a focus on cloud computing, including experience in a leadership role. Proven track record of managing cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.Leadership and management skills: Strong understanding of cloud architecture, deployment models, and cloud service offerings. Experience with cloud migration, integration, and optimization strategies. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Prior experience running and supporting a global team. Ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.Technical expertise: In-depth knowledge of AWS, Azure and Google Cloud services with virtualization technologies, networking, storage, and security concepts is essential for this leadership role. Hands-on experience with system architecture, design, and implementation is valuable. Experience with DevOps practices and tools. Knowledge of ITIL, Agile, or similar frameworks. Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and practices related to cloud environments.Project management: Experience in project management, including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication, is important for overseeing technology initiatives and ensuring successful project delivery.Communication skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effectively communicating with team members, stakeholders, executives, and end users. The ability to articulate technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner is important.Problem-solving abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial for addressing complex technology challenges, troubleshooting system issues, and making informed decisions to drive system improvements.Strategic thinking: A strategic mindset, with the ability to align technology initiatives with business goals, develop long-term technology plans, and identify opportunities for innovation and optimization, is important for a leadership role.Added bonus if you have:
Education: A bachelor's degree or greater in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Practical experience in the role can be used in place of formal education. Certifications: Certifications in virtualization technologies are highly valued.
