Cloud Network Engineer

Work you'll do 

Deloitte is looking for a Cloud Engineer to join our Agile Data Architecture & Engineering Team. This role will focus on aiding the development of data science applications within the AWS technology stack. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of end-to-end pipeline build-out and automation, ensuring seamless integration and flow of data.
As a Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying secure, maintainable, and reliable software in the form of executable functions (e.g., AWS Lambda or Azure Functions) across a cloud infrastructure that houses sensitive data and models that support mission critical operations. You will automate business processes by ensuring the proper programmatic flow of data through CI/CD pipelines and cloud artifacts while optimizing performance and cost efficiency, and quickly troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues when they arise. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration and deployments that abstracts away server management and environment configuration for data scientist and software engineering teams.

We help our clients see the transformational capabilities of Cloud as an opportunity for business enablement and competitive advantage.

Cloud Engineering supports our clients as they improve agility and resilience, and identifies opportunities to reduce IT operations spend through automation by enabling Cloud. We accelerate our clients towards a technology-driven future, leveraging vendor solutions and Deloitte-developed software products, tools, and accelerators.


Responsibilities include:

• Write and test modular, maintainable, service-oriented, serverless code to execute on cloud infrastructure
• Deliver quality software as part of a development team using the agile development methodology
• Work with other teams to integrate new technologies as needed
• Participate in architectural reviews and offer alternative architectural patterns to optimize application performance
• Document processes and solutions
• Work with the technical team to assess new customer requests, identify existing capabilities that may meet customer needs, and/or identify additional technology to meet customer needs that balances cost and performance.


Qualifications 

Required: 

Bachelor’s degreeMust be able to obtain and maintain required clearance for this role
Onsite 3 days per weekMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the futureAbility to travel 0-25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you support.

 

Preferred:

• 4+ years of experience in cloud development, with a focus on one of the major cloud platforms
• Proven experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
• Agile development experience along with related technologies (e.g., Jira)
• Demonstrable comprehension of key engineering concepts (e.g., load balancing, resiliency, backup, scaling, alerting).
• Significant experience architecting, building and maintaining capabilities in AWS.
• Significant experience architecting and working in systems Government-owned secure networks (e.g., NIPR, SIPR, A-LAN, C-LAN)
• Deep knowledge of security best practices, experience with cloud security tools, and working with role and attribute-based security models
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure ARM Templates).
• Familiarity and experience with the Intelligence Community (IC), and the intel cycle.
• Experience working in a Scrum based task / team structure.


This compensation range is specific to Washington, DC and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $93,000 – $175,000
