Our work depends on a Cloud Operations Engineer joining our team to support one of our Federal customers in the DC Metropolitan area.

As a Cloud Operations Engineer supporting GDIT’s Federal Health Division, you will be trusted to support cloud contracts for multiple customers in multi-cloud environments with other technical engineers and architects spanning AWS, Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure technologies. In this role, a typical day will include:
+ Support and document systems that are highly available, scalable, and self-healing on cloud platforms.
+ Write knowledge base documents to improve operations, knowledge transfer, and SOPs.
+ Assist developers and migration teams in moving to the cloud - provision services, migrate/reconfigure applications and backend databases to the cloud.
+ Support the operational requirements of Legacy/On-premises enterprise applications and collaborate with Cloud Engineers to develop cloud migration solutions.
+ Configure and support cloud automation using CI/CD tools such as Puppet, Jenkins, and Ansible.
+ Support and manage full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications.
+ Identify and troubleshoot cloud service events and issues as well as work with cloud service providers to efficiently solve issues or implement workarounds.
+ Play an integral role in helping to set up and define operating procedures
+ Enhance existing systems and participate in analysis, documentation, and construction of new, next generation cloud systems.
+ Provide direct analysis and recommendations associated with the implementation or migration of specific applications to cloud services.
+ Provide implementation and configuration support associated with an organization’s use of cloud services as needed.
+ Provide direct analysis and recommendations associated with the implementation or migration of specific applications to cloud services, and work with engineering, service and business teams to create technology roadmaps.
+ Work directly with other teams as appropriate to train engineers, deploy systems, and provide feedback regarding cloud implementations.
**WHAT YOU’LL NEED:**
+ 4+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in any field (or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience)
+ Hands-on technical experience with cloud technologies and hybrid cloud architectures in a production environment.
+ Hands-on experience migrating on-premises workloads to the cloud.
+ Advanced understanding of the Linux Operating System (CentOS/RHEL).
+ Experience with virtualization technologies (such as AWS Cloud, VMware, etc.)
+ Automation experience with at least one of the following CM/CI tools such as OpsWorks, Puppet, Jenkins, Ansible, and AWS Cloud Formation.
+ Solid understanding of alerts and monitoring tools, and system management tools for Linux environments (such as SolarWinds).
+ Experience with fundamental storage concepts: filesystems, backup, cloning, snapshotting, logical volume management, disk encryption.
+ Understanding of Web and Application Server technologies (such as Apache HTTP, Apache Tomcat, JBoss, WebSphere, and/or IIS)
+ Understanding of networking concepts, Firewalls, NAT, SNAT, DNAT, and load balancing technologies.
**DESIRED EXPERIENCE:**
+ Experience with cloud hosted databases such as AWS RDS or Google Cloud SQL is strongly preferred.
+ An AWS Certification: Developer - Associate, SysOps Administrator - Associate, or Solutions Architect - Associate strongly preferred.
+ Experience implementing enterprise cloud storage and disaster recovery solutions.
+ Hands on experience administering Web and Application Server technologies (Apache HTTP, Apache Tomcat, JBoss, WebSphere, and/or IIS) is strongly preferred.
+ Strong command line interface (CLI) and application programming interface (API) scripting (such as PowerShell, JSON, Bash, Perl, Ruby, or Python).
+ Proficient in orchestration and workflow automation and development.
+ Detailed understanding of DevOps process and Agile/Scrum Methodology.
+ Software Development Life Cycle, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.

The likely salary range for this position is $80,750 - $109,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
