Global Science & Technology, Inc (GST) is seeking a Cloud Specialist to support our client in the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The position is responsible for estimating, monitoring, and auditing cloud resources to improve the operational efficiency of cloud infrastructure and recommending cost optimization actions. This position is also responsible for estimating cloud infrastructure, and cloud development costs and forecasting growth, while also considering third-party support licensing agreements, labor costs, and financial statement impact.\n

This position is located in Silver Spring, MD, but is approved for a hybrid model of onsite and telework.\n

Position Summary:\n
The person in this position will interact regularly with the leadership, developers, architects, operations, contracting, and acquisition teams to optimize cloud spending and improve efficiency. You will deploy end-to-end cloud solutions that include requirements gathering, architecture, development, deployment, and operational management of solutions that specifically provide value to cost optimization and reporting. This person will also contribute to the administrative resolution of events or configurations that contribute to unnecessary cloud expenditures to create a leaner solution Hands-on AWS account administration is an important skill for success in this role. Specific duties will include:\n\nDevelop cost estimates, manage budgets, and maintain spending plans\nAnalyze the cloud infrastructure and provide financial updates and optimization recommendations \n Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure capacity and demand forecasts including day-to-day monitoring and tracking of cloud capacity & resource management for all services \nCoordinate with managers to log incoming cloud service demand and provide recommendations \nCloud infrastructure operational reporting on performance, usage, compliance \nResponsible for day-to-day cloud performance tracking and reporting including creating reports for new services, and managing exceptions to usage and billing as needed \nContinually monitor and report usage to ensure costs are controlled \nParticipate in deep architectural discussions to help project teams make the most cost-efficient choices \nArchitect, deploy and manage cloud solutions that contribute to cost optimization, cost avoidance, and cost reporting (e.g. chargeback tools)\n\n

Required Education\/Experience\/Skills:\n\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems or related field with emphasis on cloud analytics\n8-14 years of experience in cloud financial analysis, specifically targeted at AWS, or equivalent education and experience \nFamiliarity with government budget\/financial planning (know terminology, processes, procedures) \nTechnical experience in AWS Cloud (could be architecture, operations, security, anything) outside of strictly finance roles \nTo excel in the position you will know SQL, Python libraries, AWS account structure, and Lambda \nCritical thinking skills are critical -- identify issues and recommend solutions\n\n
