I. SUMMARY OF POSITION PURPOSE

 

To provide care for all patients coming to Pulmonary Rehab, Pulmonary Diagnostics, and Asthma Clinic.

 

II. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Assist Pulmonary staff in the Pulmonary Rehab gym with patients during exercise - Vital signs (blood pressure, O2 saturations, heart rate) and assist patients to next mode of exercise. Calls and sets up interviews for Pulmonary Rehab referrals. Gets insurance authorizations and Co-pay information for Pulmonary Rehab patients when necessary. Works with all disciplines to deliver the best level of care. Works at front desk to register patients for procedures in the department (About 30% of the time). Collects payments at front desk during registration. Assists with appointment reminder calls for the department. Assists with scanning Pulmonary Rehab referrals & chart information.

Qualifications: 

CMA certification by American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Health Career Association (NHA), or American Medical Technologist (AMT). Must be a graduate of a post secondary medical assisting education program accredited by the National Healthcare Association, or its successor; by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association, or its successor; by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools, or its successor; or by any accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. The accredited post secondary medical assisting education program must include courses in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, medical laboratory techniques, and clinical experience. Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience preferred.
