Essential FunctionsAssist in placing the patient in the room onto the exam table and off the exam table and out of the exam room.Obtain vital signs, report abnormal results to Provider and record accurately in patient recordPrepares waiting room for clinic, chairs in order, lights turned onProvide emotional support to patient and familyMakes self available to listen to patient and familySafety precautions are implemented as needed by professional judgment/policy and proceduresDemonstrates consistent use of OSHA guidelines and Universal PrecautionsUtilizes proper body mechanicsMakes certain all rooms are stocked accordingly.Refer any complaints to appropriate source for solutionOffer assistance to visitors as neededAttend staff meetingsAdhere to hospital dress code policyObtain 24 hours of continuing education units annually and keep professional certifications currentAdhere to written hospital policy and procedurePerform other duties as assignedAnswer phone when others are busy and take messages accuratelyJob RequirementsMinimum EducationCurrent Certification in Medical Assisting from accredited program or current State Registered Nurse Aide (SRNA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). or 3 years experience as medical assist and must be enrolled in a CMA program within 6 months of hire.High school diploma or equivalent-RequiredAssociate’s degree or two years of college-PreferredRequired SkillsComputer experience in word, database programs and spreadsheetsAbility to read and communicate effectivelyRequires critical thinking skills, detail oriented with decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Must be flexible with work location assignments.Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS)One of the following: SRNA/CNA or enrolled in CMA program within 6 months of hire
