CMF Designer
The CMF (Color, Material, Finish) is a motivated individual with an eye for detail, problem solving and working in a fast paced team environment. They report to the Sr. Designer, CMF overseeing a large, complex workload that includes multiple product categories. This designer displays a strong understanding of color theory and how that translates into footwear design. They will also have a creative eye towards graphic design as it relates to footwear, color, materials and storytelling. They will collaborate with product design, development and product management to understand color, graphics and material construction opportunities and enhancements. They create and maintain Color CADs for their categories, ensuring the work is done with excellence and in timely manner to hit all deadlines and gates. Color will be their first priority with graphics as their secondary consideration.


The ideal candidate needs to be highly organized and is comfortable working in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment, across multiple product categories and on a multi-season basis. This person will be passionate about elevating the customer experience to deliver brand relevant products with a focus on both the art and science of color and material design from concept to production.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

· Create best-in-class seasonal storytelling, color direction, and material development aligned with marketplace trends, consumer target, and seasonal business strategy.

· Working with the design team, design and develop innovative and cost-efficient brand and market relevant footwear which includes concepting and technical development.

· Partner with Product Line Management and Product Development in the creation of line plans, briefs and final product solutions aligned with business goals and consumer needs (style and function).

· Deliver on-time product solutions in conjunction with the product calendar ensuring that all deadlines, line plans, and deliverables are met.

· Study and research current and future trends, maintain expert knowledge in global design trends, market competition, and retail landscape.

· Proficient in the creation of tech packs as it relates to color and graphic application.

· Partner with developers in US and Asia on line schedules, adhere to the product calendar, ensuring development projects are on track.

· Responsible for getting prototypes and samples executed to reflect the techpack.

· Periodic travel to Asia to for product development.

· Special projects as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Take 2D line art and apply color and materials that are appropriate and tailored to assigned division and consumer.

• A good understanding of the marketplace, consumer and competition to help lead Skechers color and materials for all products and colorways in the technical performance division.

• Understanding of Footwear style, models, color and overall affinity for footwear product

• Research and apply material and color choices. Computerize color-ups, details and textures.

• Design and apply footwear graphics and color to key models.

• Implement innovations in color and materials to maximize product designs.

• Great communication and teamwork within the product team and with overseas office

• Must understand the footwear production process at the factory level.

• Must have advanced skills in Photoshop/Illustrator

• Must have great communication/presentation skills

• Team first mentality and work well with all functions in the division and company

• Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Preferably a bachelor’s degree in Footwear, Fashion, Graphic Design, Textiles or a related field.

• Should have a minimum of 3-5 years of color / graphic design experience and knowledge of shoe constructions and materials.

The pay range for this role is $85,000-$100,000.
