GENERAL FUNCTION: The Commercial Loan Exceptions Specialist I is responsible for processing documentation, collateral and regulatory exceptions items including the pro-active resolution of outstanding exceptions associated with commercial loans. Thisrole will assist in the assurance that all newly closed commercial loans have met all document and perfection requirements and that the bank#s position and security interest has been satisfied following Bank policy and procedures. The Commercial LoanExceptions Specialist I is responsible for reviewing a wide variety of loan and line products from simple to complex transactions and obtaining the documentation necessary for full perfection. The Commercial Loan Exceptions Specialist I will also beresponsible for managing daily, monthly & quarterly reports as part of the pro-active resolution of outstanding exceptions. Under close supervision and using well-established guidelines, process all loan document exception types, along with regulatory & compliance exceptions on commercial loans. The position will require a basic level of knowledge of loan documentation,policies and procedures as well as knowledge of Commercial and Business Banking product lines, lending operations, policies, practices and procedures. The position will require a basic level of knowledge of the loan accounting, imaging and workflowsystems. A high concentration on time management, prioritization and customer service are necessary to fulfill the expectations of this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with the management of daily, weekly & monthly reports related to the proactive exceptions clearing process.
Performs the necessary actions required to obtain missing, trailing or deficient documentation as deemed required during recent documentation of a commercial loan transaction.
Has a full understanding of executed new and renewal loan packages, assisting with the assurance that all required loan documents (as required in the credit approval and in established policies and procedures) are received from third party vendors,recording offices, etc.
Researches issues with any missing required documents, proactively communicates issues with RMs, PMs, U/W, BBOs, Branch Managers and LCOs, and maintenances exceptions to track for receipt of these items.
Updates collateral records on the commercial accounting system to maintain the integrity of collateral data used for servicing and reporting

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
High School diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year experience with a focus on loan documentation, collateral perfection, or related work experience.
Knowledge of Pre and Post Article 9 rules governing the perfection of UCC related collateral.
Knowledge of filing requirements for real estate secured loans.
Knowledge of filing requirements for unique collateral such as equine, airplane engines, assignments of contracts and assignments of membership interests.
Good time management and organizational skills evidenced in previous assignments.
Demonstrates an understanding of applicable bank policies and procedures.
Basic knowledge of loan documents and requirements.
Basic knowledge of commercial lending and loans.
Understanding of all Business Banking and Commercial loan products.
Knowledge of Business Banking and Commercial Lending Credit Policy/Guidelines.
Knowledge of loan documentation, collateral evaluation, lien perfection, local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
Basic knowledge of B2B, CCAS, AFS, Loan Doc Prep System, and other banking systems preferred.
Good personal computer skills with demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft EXCEL, WORD, and email.
Self-starter and works with minimal direction.
Good analytical, verbal and written communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills and team orientation skills.
Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
Ability to appropriately escalate issues requiring problem solving and decision making.
Completion of Exception Processing certification program (future).
