At Altar’d State, we are seeking a CNC Design & Manufacturing Engineer to join our Creative Team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in designing and producing intricate, immersive elements for seasonal brand windows and experiential retail displays, such as pop-up shops, that captivate our customers and elevate our brand.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Concept Translation
Be part of the Creative Team to conceptualize, design, and execute seasonal Altar’d State brand windows and experiential installations.
Develop 2D and 3D CAD models to translate creative visions into manufacturable designs that align with brand standards.
Leverage knowledge of experiential design to create impactful displays that tell a story and engage customers.
CNC Machining & Programming
Program, set up, and operate CNC machines to produce precise, high-quality components for retail displays and other projects.
Utilize laser coding machines to mark, engrave, or customize products as required.
Continuously optimize CNC programs for efficiency, accuracy, and material conservation.
Tooling & Fixture Design
Design and implement tooling, jigs, and fixtures to streamline production processes.
Maintain a deep understanding of manufacturing materials, tolerances, and techniques to ensure design feasibility.
File Preparation & Vendor Collaboration
Create detailed production files and technical documentation for external vendors.
Coordinate with vendors to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to quality and design specifications.
Serve as a technical expert and key contributor within the Creative Team for vendor production needs.
Timing & Production Management
Plan and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.
Anticipate and address potential production delays, implementing proactive solutions to maintain schedules.
Balance multiple projects simultaneously while delivering exceptional results.
Quality Assurance & Process Improvement
Testing and inspection of prototypes and finished products to ensure they meet design and quality standards.
Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and maintain consistency.
Stay current on advancements in CNC machining, manufacturing techniques, and experiential design trends to drive innovation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience with CNC programming, setup, and operation.
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360.
Strong background in manufacturing techniques, materials, and tolerances.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects with tight timelines and complex requirements.
Familiarity with experiential design or large-scale retail display projects, such as pop-up shops or interactive installations, is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Effective communication and collaboration as part of a dynamic Creative Team.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with multi-axis CNC machining.
Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Experience in tooling and fixture design.
Knowledge of laser coding and engraving processes.
