Job Description
The CNC Operator I is a key member of the Machine Shop department. Under direct to moderate supervision, you will be responsible for programming, operating, and implementing machine processes while maintaining company safety and quality expectations. Additionally, you'll manage related inventory and keep accurate records of daily production. The CNC Operator I has responsibility for operating all relevant CNC machinery, tools, and equipment, completing standard and complex production tasks (based on experience level) safely and in accordance with instructions. The CNC Operator I will perform TPM’s on equipment, troubleshoot problems, or arrange for the supervisor to have equipment repaired or serviced by appropriate technicians. The CNC Operator I will work towards assisting and helping to train less skilled and experienced operators.
ResponsibilitiesUnder direct to moderate supervision, set up, operate, and program various CNC Machines (methods, tooling, and fixtures to assure proper methodology).Detect and troubleshoot system malfunctions through taking measurements, adjusting controls, reprogramming machines, and closely monitoring grooving, drilling, and cutting.Accomplish company objectives by accepting responsibilities for completing innovative and new requests while also exploring value-adding opportunities.Use standardized guidelines for setups, tooling, fixtures, and equipment.Maintain the necessary paperwork for the CNC Machine and other operations within the Machine Shop.Advise the maintenance department or supervisor of any machine issues, crashes, or needed repairs.Input to revise methods (setups and fixturing to correct deficiencies).Check and report repairs and make necessary adjustments to tools and fixtures before returning to assigned storage area.Use DNC software to upload/download programs. Work Environment
The work environment includes designing and building heavy-duty steam turbines, air and gas compressors, power recovery turbines, and power generating equipment. The end customers are primarily in the aerospace industry. The work hours are Monday-Thursday from 6 am-4:30 pm. Physical demands include the ability to lift/push/move up to 30-50 lbs and stand/walk/move for up to 8 hours.
