ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, which are to be performed accurately, efficiently, within company safety and quality standards, and within required time frames as needed. Use hand-tools, ratchets, air tools, or other devices to secure parts and fixturesUse hoist, pallet jacks or forklift to move parts, material, containers, and fixtures to and from storage areas and machineryTrain personnel on operations of the ALL CNC machinery, robotics automation, or tool settingStudies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills and lathesCalculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.Adjusts the running program or makes updates to programs as neededStarts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.Work with the engineering, tooling technician, and outside vendors for tooling issues or new tooling ideasTroubleshoots tooling problems; communicates issues to engineering and tooling technician; resolves or escalates problem for resolutionSets troublesome tools for the operators and mentor operators on repeatable practicesRepairs fixture and components after normal wear and crashesModify cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation and save modified programsImplement changes to machine programs and enter new specificationsCalculate machine speed and feed ratios and the size and position of cutSets up and operates the machine on test runs or PPAP to verify the accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.Performs fixture, pallet, and tooling offsets for CMM accuracyLoad and unload partsMeasure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixturesPerforms set up activities such as mount, install, align, secure tools, attachments, fixtures, chucks, and workpieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instrumentsStop machines to remove finished workpieces or to change tooling, setup, or workpiece placement, according to required machining sequencesInsert part programs into machine controlMonitor machine operation and control panel displays and compare readings to specifications to detect malfunctionsProactively works with team members to ensure their cell achieves OEE targetsWorks with engineering and tooling technician to determine tool life of tooling to ensure efficiency of operation and minimization of scrapTroubleshoots machining problems; communicates issues to engineering and supervisors; resolves or escalates problem for resolutionPerforms Coolant audits and monitors sump conditionsPerform quality checks, including statistical sampling, process capability monitoringRun first piece, inspect, and obtain Quality Department approval at set upFollow safety regulations; keep work areas and equipment clean and orderly using 5S standardsMay perform other duties as assigned and extend into other areas as neededFlexibility to work overtime as requiredPerform tasks in a timely and accurate mannerKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
