Summary – basic function of the role We are seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Machinist to join our team in Cramlington, Northumberland. In this role, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes, including both 2-axis and advanced twin-spindle multitasking lathes. You will produce high-precision components that meet stringent quality standards and align with the requirements of our production plan. Job Duties and Responsibilities Plan the required machining operations in order to cost effectively produce precision components Ensure that all production associated documents are appropriately completed and retained with the respective jobs, in accordance with the company management system Perform first off inspection and periodic inspections thereafter of related processes Minimize waste, i.e. minimize manufactured part defect levels Support the departmental objectives Participate fully in continuous improvement (LEAD) activities where necessary and when required Ensure all HSSEQ rules and regulations are communicated and enforced throughout the Organization Proactively participate to safety awareness and improvement Represent the Company in a professional manner at all times, both internally and externally. Follow the published processes and comply with all company policies and procedures. Be an ambassador for the businesses in particular ensure that Health & Safety comes first at all times Skills and Competencies Be an effective communicator Computer literate Conversant with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles Possibility of shift working in the future Organised with good attention to detail Excellent communication skills and a great team player Professionalism, integrity and a strong work ethic Flexible approach to working. Education and Experience Proficient in programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes, ideally with Fanuc controls. Skilled in setting and operating CNC mills. Familiarity with CAM software is preferred. Experience with Celos MAPPS (DMG Mori) is advantageous. Prior experience with multitasking lathes is beneficial but not required. Open to adopting automated manufacturing methods, such as bar feeders and robotic loading. Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality, precision machined components with close tolerances. Experienced in a fast-paced, reactive production environment with a strong focus on prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
