Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Machine set-up and operation
Perform initial programming and set-up of machine for standard orders. Requires selecting appropriate tooling to complete the job. Continual operation of machine in an efficient manner. Performing tool and pad corrections and machine adjustments as needed to achieve the desired results. Communicate problems with senior technician, engineering, and supervisor. Handles optics with care. Takes precautions to protect optics during handling and measuring. Completed parts must meet or exceed specifications. Quality and/or quantity must equal or exceed departmental goals. Maintains machine during and after operations.Metrology and Inspection
Perform initial, in-process and final measurements of parts including but not limited to CT, figure, roughness, and other mechanical dimensions. Responsible that all product leaving the Double Planetary area meet specification. Coordinates with engineering to ensure measurement technique is in alignment with QA. Able to use metrology equipment including but not limited to eye loop, CT gauge, micrometer, interferometer, and spherometer. Perform visual inspection of surfaces and features to ensure workmanship quality meets print and internal expectations.Documentation
Able to interpret SODA sheets, work orders and drawings. Wand production time to appropriate work order operations. Maintain appropriate documentation within the work cell.Education & Experience
2 to 5 years’ experience in light manufacturing preferred but not required. High school diploma or GED required.Skills
Good problem solving Ability to multitask Attention to detail in every aspect of the job Well-developed communication and organizational skills Work with minimal supervision and adjust to daily work requirements Read drawings and production paperwork Team-oriented and self-motivated Competent math skills for unit conversions and scientific notationWorking Conditions
Manufacturing and laboratory conditions involving the use of high-precision machines and metrology equipment. The correct safety equipment and personal protective clothing must be employed in all activities. The use of Chemicals such as acetone, acetic acid, IPA, detergents, polish, and coolants. Standing for long periods.Physical Requirements
Average 25% standing, 25% walking, 50% sitting. Maximum lifting/pulling of 25lbs.Safety Requirements
