Cnc Programmer
Job Title: CNC/CAM Programmer - Turning Job Description The CNC/CAM Programmer role is an important member of our programming and engineering team supporting the production of precision aerospace components. This role acts as the liaison of excellence between teams. You will focus on the process development and programming of CNC equipment including multi-axis lathes, Swiss screw machines, vertical machining centers, and grinders. You will split your time between programming in a CAM environment and performing hands-on set-up on the production floor. Responsibilities + Utilize CAM software to develop CNC programs (g-code) that optimize the best manufacturing methods to produce precision and ultra-precision components. + Work within teams to develop manufacturing processes, preferred tooling and work-holding, in-process deburring, and metrology that will become the approved work instructions for the Production team. + Document all selections in tooling and datasheet libraries. + Leverage parametric programming, macros, and CAM software to optimize programs across a family of parts. + Set up and operate production equipment during the initial process development of new parts. + Determine ideal set-up, tool paths, material removal rates, finish, and yield. + Train production personnel for a smooth transition to ensure reproducibility in mass production. + Manage programs and machine & tool set-up data within the company’s product data management (PDM) and Distributed Numerical Control (DNC) systems. + Serve as an in-house subject matter expert, participating in lean events to optimize existing released products to reduce set-up, reduce machine time, or otherwise improve productivity and quality. + Stay updated with the latest manufacturing technology through research of equipment, software, tooling, and gaging systems. + Make recommendations on productivity improvements related to technology investments. + Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s or associate's degree in engineering preferred. + Five or more years of advanced manufacturing experience, preferably in precision or ultra-precision machining centers. + Expert knowledge of CNC programming such as Fanuc, Mitsubishi, and Okuma controls using advanced programming techniques. + Frequent user of CAM software programs. Esprit is preferred, but others such as Mastercam, PartMaker, or SolidCAM are acceptable. + Strong knowledge of work-holding, tooling systems, and set-up of CNC machines. + Must have TURNING machining experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with manufacturing enterprise software such as EPICOR or similar is a bonus. + SolidWorks experience is preferred. + Experience with turning machines as opposed to milling machines. + Eagerness to learn and grow within the role.
