CNC PROGRAMMER (STARSHIP R&D MACHINING)
As a CNC Programmer at SpaceX, you will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge, experience, and creativity to develop novel solutions at the cutting edge of space technology. You will work on hardware that will deliver satellites into Earth orbit, ferry humans to and from the International Space Station, and ultimately extend humanity’s reach beyond the Earth and Moon. You will provide input into the design and development of new and existing hardware and take a lead role in creating robust machining processes to create parts for our current and next generation vehicles.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Use Esprit CAM to program and generate G-Code for Okuma mill-turn lathes and mills Create tooling and process setup sheets for new part introduction Set-up, prove out, and operate programs on Okuma mill-turn lathes and mills Help develop and utilize a CAM database for efficient new part programming Review quality concerns from piece part inspection and correct processes accordingly Analyze piece parts for DFM to ensure that the parts are optimized for manufacturing and collaborate with engineering to recommend drawing changes as needed Take feedback from engineering and production to rapidly iterate on part processes and designs Seek out continuous education opportunities; stay up to date on the latest manufacturing technologies, and spread this knowledge throughout the team Constantly keep products moving, and alert management when production is inhibited Maintain physical 5S and electronic organization with adherence to the standards of the shop/SpaceX and develop/enforce standards throughout the shop Collaborate with other SpaceX machine shop facilities to share capabilities and develop resources to address capacity and scheduling issues as necessaryBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate 3+ years of CNC machining experiencePREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
1+ years of CNC programming experience Understanding of a variety of machining processes and equipment Experience with CNC programming using Esprit CAM software Knowledge of basic geometry, algebra, and trigonometry Experience reading a blueprint and understanding all drawing criteria, notes, and GD&T Experience with Okuma OSP controls Experience programming multi-axis lathes and mills Experience assessing strengths/weaknesses, seeking feedback to improve performance, pursuing training/development opportunities, striving to continuously build knowledge/skills, and sharing expertise with others Experience adapting to new technologies, troubleshooting technological problems, using technology to increase productivity, and keeping technical skills up to date Experience looking for ways to improve/promote quality and demonstrating accuracy/thoroughness Experience writing instructions such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Experience writing routine correspondenceADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to work all required shift hours, overtime, and weekends as needed Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted Ability to work with your hands and use tools/controls Must be willing to work in an environment that is in close proximity to loud machinery and in a facility that uses coolants, solvents, and cleaners regularlyCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
CNC Programmer/Level 1: $30.00 - $38.00/hour
CNC Programmer/Level 2: $34.00 - $43.00/hour
CNC Programmer/Level 3: $38.00 - $48.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
