CNC Programmer/ Machinist

Our Client, an Automotive Manufacturing company, is looking for a CNC Programmer/ Machinist for their Grand Blanc, MI location. Responsibilities:
+ Programing, setup tooling, basic inspection and finishing of the parts
+ Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, and material specifications
+ Program mills, utilizing manual G-Code Programming and CAM systems
+ Maintains part specifications by adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
+ Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements specified by the manufacturer’s instructions.
+ Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership and exploring opportunities to add value to the team
Requirements:
+ Minimum of 10 years machining experience necessary or equivalent
+ Significant CAM software experience preferably with Master cam
+ Sufficient 3D surfacing skills
+ Tooling speeds and feeds selection responsibility
+ Manual Mill and Lathe Experience
+ 4 axis CNC Programming and operation
+ Utilization of GD&T standards
+ Interpersonal skills required to work with others from various disciplines and cultures.
+ Strong organizational skills to communicate technical data to colleagues and leadership
+ Strong level of analytical thinking
+ Experience operating and programming 4/5 axis CNC machines
+ Experience with both horizontal and vertical CNC machines
+ Familiar with UG and Team Center
+ CNC lathe programming and operation experience a plus
+ Fanuc, Haas, Hurco, Fadal, Makino and Siemens controller experience
+ Understanding of the constantly evolving racing environment
+ Business Group – Racing department, manufacture components for building racing engines, make parts for battery electrification vehicles
+ Motivator for this need – replacement for a direct employee
+ This is a machinist position require them to be able to come onsite and run certain jobs, blueprints, CNC machine, looking for someone that’s been in a machine shop for 5-10 years and has a general understanding of manufacturing.
+ Specifically need machine shop experience, give them a drawing and a piece of material this is what he is looking for someone who understand this.
+ Day to day is different, understand how to program the machine, change tools, understand pre-setters, this is not an entry level position
+ Building racing components, power train, it is cool to turn racing on on the weekend and know that you had a part in making that vehicle
+ Interaction level with the team – working with a programmer, 1 other person.
+ The goal is to make sure they are successful and trained correctly before being left on their own.
+ Experience is more important
+ Attendance is really important, not looking for someone who has been in a new job every year, they are looking for someone who has been at a place for at least a couple years. He will look back 5 years to review their job tenure
+ Wants someone who will make this their career, long term opportunity
+ Wants someone who is dedicated to this trade
+ Any background aerospace, military/defense – this is always a bonus
+ Machine Shop 5-10 years of experience
+ Makino experience – understand the control, job shop environment, how to load a part how to blow the part off, safety
+ Job hoppy – need to stay away from this
