Job Description:
The Machinist will set up and operate manually controlled machines in skilled precision and bench work in the fabrication, maintenance, repair, and alteration of machinery, machine parts, tools, and equipment. Positions are open for both day and night shift
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Use precision tools, machinery, and equipment such as lathe, manual milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, band saw, and a variety of cutting tools and equipmentFabricate and shape parts such as tools and machine parts out of metalProperly and safely select, align, secure, and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machinesRecognize, deploy, and properly use inserts, fixtures, and toolingStudies applicable drawings and prints of work to be performed and follows instructionsMust be able to determine the proper tools required to perform given taskOperates and utilizes lifting aids as necessary to perform workUse gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirementsPerform daily, regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipmentPerform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner while maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulationsWork overtime as needed on evenings and/or weekendsCommunicates with others to coordinate work in plantOther duties as assignedPREFERRED MACHINING SKILLS
Lathes, Grinders, Boring Mills, Planers, Portable ToolsTurn, Drill, Tap, Bore, Hone, Polish machine processesLarge part machining experience preferred. Ship propeller shafting, ship steering gear, etc.In-place machining experience is desiredForklift and Crane experience preferredPay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
