**Job Title: Setup Machinist**
**Job Description**
We are seeking a skilled Setup Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in setting up and operating CNC machines, with a strong understanding of CNC programming. You will be responsible for ensuring that machine setups are executed accurately and efficiently, maintaining high standards of precision and quality.
**Responsibilities**
+ Set up machines and assist with operating them as per the programs written by the Programming Engineer.
+ Load programs into the machine and make necessary adjustments and edits using the software.
+ Review setup sheets and specifications to determine the setup procedure, machining sequence, and dimensions of the finished workpiece.
+ Perform an average of 15 setups per week.
+ Attach fixtures to the machine bed and position and secure the workpiece in the fixture according to setup instructions.
+ Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and position tool holders in machine spindles as specified.
+ Manipulate controls and enter commands to index the cutting tool to the specified set point and start the machine.
+ Observe and listen to machine operations to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
+ Change cutting tools and the location of the workpiece during the machining process as specified in setup instructions.
+ Measure workpieces for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges.
+ Adjust machine feed and speed and change cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or the machine malfunctions.
**Essential Skills**
+ 5-10 years of CNC setup experience.
+ Strong understanding of CNC programming (G-Code at the machine, manual input).
+ Ability to complete full setups, operation, and changeovers.
+ Strong blueprint experience.
+ Experience with live tooling.
+ Proficiency in using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, depth mics, blade mics, and comparators (manual & digital).
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience with Citizen Miyano BNA-42GTY Swiss Style Machines.
+ CAD/CAM experience.
+ Knowledge of Fanuc controls.

**Work Environment**
You will be working on brand new machinery, including 6 Citizen Miyano BNA-42GTY Swiss Style Machines. This is a mix of job shop and production machining. The runs will typically range from 20-70 pieces, with some orders exceeding 300 pieces. The parts are very complex and need to be within very close tolerances. The work environment is organized with steel toe boots, safety glasses, and team uniforms provided. Hours for the first shift are 7:00am-3:30pm, with optional but encouraged overtime on weekends (5 hours on Saturday and Sunday, with Sunday being double time).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eastlake, Ohio.
