Job Summary
This position involves setting up and operating grinding machines to grind external surfaces of work pieces to specifications by performing the following duties.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Reads blueprint for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be ground, and determines what grinding wheel to be usedMounts wheel on spindle using a hoistDresses wheel to specifications if requiredPosition wheel to location for stock removalPositions and tightens cams and stops to control length of strokeLifts and positions work piece and secures work piece on magnetic chuckStarts machine and activates controls to feed wheel against work pieceVerifies dimensions of finished work piece for conformance to specificationsChanges worn grinding wheelDetermines the order of grinding operations when multiple operations are to be donePerforms complex dressing of grinding wheels to accomplish blueprint specifications

Education and Experience Requirements

1-3 years of previous experience working in an industrial environmentAbility to read and understand work instructions, plus follow verbal work instructionsAbility to work within a team environment

Preferred Skills and Abilities

Ability to focus on one  task for long periods of time
