CNC Trainee Requisition ID: 41812 Job Location(s): Tallahassee, FL, US **Job Description** THIS POSITION IS AN ENTRY-LEVEL, semi-skilled role that works under the direction of experienced co-workers to learn the trade of CNC machining. Upon completion of the training program, the candidate could be promoted into a CNC Machinist position. In this role, the CNC Trainee Tech will produce machined parts by programming/editing, setting up, and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines, while maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, maintaining equipment and work area. **Job Responsibilities** Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. o Follows written instructions in the form of Standard Operating Procedures. Also follows verbal instructions from experienced co-workers, team leaders, and supervisors o Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances. o Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock. o Programs/edits mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs. o Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads. o Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position. o Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards. o Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. o Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. o Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs. o Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. o Documents actions by completing production and quality logs. **Background & Skills** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
