About this opportunity:

The candidate will be joining a team responsible for the creation of innovative, forward-looking concepts and methodologies to secure mid and long-term Ericsson’s leadership in the Cellular Network Design and Optimization market. Deep understanding of market trends and dynamics is essential to envision such concepts. Once created and validated through prototypes, concept IPR protection through patents is also within the scope of the group, as well as the transition to the following stages of the productization process and the reinforcement of Ericsson’s thought leadership by means of selective technical publications.

What you will do:

•    Creation of innovative, forward looking concepts and methodologies to secure Ericsson’s technology advantage in the Design and Optimization market as cellular networks and technologies evolve.
•    Formulation of the unit’s current and long term technology strategy.
•    Secure the IPR protection of the created solutions via patent applications.
•    Execution of proofs of concept for the created methodologies on live networks.
•    Support the transition of the created solutions towards the following stage of the productization process.
•    Detailed analysis of current & future technology trends in the industry, as well as the corresponding implications on the Network Design and Optimization market.
•    Interaction with Universities and other external research organizations to ensure full alignment with the latest technology breakthroughs.
•    Support the thought leadership efforts of the unit via ad-hoc, selective technical publications.

The skills you bring:

•    Excellent academic track record from recognized engineering schools, typically with an advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.).
•    Background and experience in Design and Optimization of Cellular Networks, including 5G.
•    2-5 years of experience in the Telecoms industry.
•    Strong innovation track-record, including patents and publications.
•    Concept prototyping skills, mainly through Python programming.
•    Strong communication skills.
•    Problem solving & strategic thinking skills.
•    While not mandatory, knowledge of big data, ML/AI and Cloud Computing technologies will be valued.
