Co-Head of Surety EMEA Aon’s UK Global Broking Centre and Credit Solutions business is looking for an EMEA Co-Head of Surety to lead and manage an established Surety business and build upon the substantial growth in recent years. What the day will look like Reporting directly to the Managing Director of Construction & Infrastructure with a matrix reporting line to the Credit Solutions product speciality, the primary responsibilities of the role will be managing the Surety requirements for a portfolio of clients, identifying existing client opportunities in Surety, developing and executing a business plan for prospecting Surety opportunities directly and via the wider Aon client portfolio. The scope of the role is EMEA so the role will be responsible for driving the overall success of our Surety portfolio across the region. This leader will develop our strategy and deliver a collaborative value chain with our country Surety heads, EMEA colleagues, clients, and carriers. How this opportunity is different The individual will require knowledge and experience of the Surety and/or Credit business either through the underwriting and/or broking market as well as a proven track record of leading teams and managing a portfolio of large strategic clients. To deliver excellence in client relationships, retention and growth of existing accounts. To promote an Aon United culture approach across the team, and drive strategies and practices to support a diverse workplace. Maintain and promote a well-balanced risk management and compliance culture. Work with the leadership team to enhance and promote key ‘cultural’ characteristics of the wider team: enthusiasm, teamwork, client focus, innovation, accountability. Lead and develop a team; effectively delivering results through mentoring, performance management, talent and compensation reviews. Modelling strong leadership behaviours. Compliance with regulatory requirements and business procedures and identify opportunities for process improvement. Contribute to our global growth agenda through innovation and thought leadership whilst working closely with Aon’s network offices worldwide. New business growth and development, to include tender management and being part of bid teams as and when required. Maintain and build relationships with key Surety management teams Establish key performance targets and financial budgets for the Surety team to optimise business performance in line with set objectives Recommend and implement action plans after reviewing Aon’s book of business and profit/growth results and trends. Skills and experience that will lead to success A proven track record in delivering results, product innovation, negotiating facility and renewal deals, securing new clients, and jeopardy account management. Minimum of 10-years recent experience at a senior management level within a commercial environment. Progress towards the Chartered Insurance Institute examinations (ACII), with a minimum achievement of APA/CIP. Thorough understanding of risk management concepts. Advance knowledge of and practise of large Surety facilities and individual high value placements across Contract and Commercial Surety Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, accountancy regulations and guidelines People management skills, including mentoring and development of colleagues Strong communicator and influencer – ability to effectively communicate, present and adjust messages accordingly to a variety of audiences. Strong internal and external communication skills, demonstrating ability to collaborate, lead and negotiate Strong accountability and proven ability to foresee and overcome setbacks and challenges to drive results.
