Position Summary

The Discovery Biotherapeutics group in Redwood City, California is dedicated to the discovery and development of innovative biologics. Our primary mission is to design and implement advanced biological tools and processes that drive the forefront of therapeutic innovation. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and expertise, we aim to pioneer new approaches that enable the creation of novel biologics, ultimately advancing the field of biotherapeutics and improving patient outcomes.

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual with at least 2 years of study towards a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. This position is focused upon adapting next generation sequencing data into antibody discovery workflows. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team and work closely with experienced industrial professionals and have a meaningful impact on current drug discovery programs at BMS.

Key Responsibilities

Work alongside bench and computational scientists to execute antibody discovery campaign via bulk-sorting and single cell RNA sequencing to deliver diverse and potent antibodies.

Incorporate 10x Genomics workflows and automation to increase throughput and decrease error-rate.

Exposure to different lab processes: cell culture with aseptic techniques, ELISA, flow cytometry.

Record experiments and data in electronic laboratory notebooks in sufficient detail and in a timely fashion.

Participate and contribute during scientific discussions.

Analyze data and present project findings at the conclusion of the program.

Qualifications & Experience

Motivated undergraduate that is eager to learn about Antibody binder discovery, with a basic understanding of immunology and biochemistry preferred.

Candidate must be in enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program majoring in Biology (Molecular Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology), Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related discipline.

Must have completed a minimum of 2 years of study towards a bachelor’s degree by June 2025

Candidate should have basic laboratory skills (via lab course, academic lab, or industry lab)

Candidate should have strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal), and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Candidate must be eligible for employment in the United States, and available to work from January 6th, 2025, to June 20th, 2025.

This is a lab-based, onsite role, located at our Redwood City, CA site.

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $21.00/hour - $29.00/hour. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and the geographic location where work is performed. Final individual compensation is decided commensurate with demonstrated experience and education level.
