Position Summary
We at Bristol-Myers Squibb are seeking to hire a highly motivated individual to join our Discovery Immunology team located in Lawrenceville, NJ. The successful candidate would join a group dedicated to developing novel therapeutics for the treatment of multiple autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. In pursuit of this goal, the candidate will utilize cutting-edge technology and platforms to learn and apply multiple cellular, molecular, genetic, and immunological techniques for target validation and interrogation of unique biological pathways in immune, stromal, and epithelial cell populations. In addition to these lab-based skills, the candidate will have opportunities to work collaboratively across therapeutic areas to broaden their understanding of drug discovery and development. Broad expertise in cellular biology is preferred for candidates with demonstrated experience in primary human or murine immune cell systems. The candidate will contribute meaningfully to the validation and progression of novel therapies towards the pursuit of treating patients.
Key Responsibilities
+ Isolate and culture primary human and mouse immune cell subsets and cell lines.
+ Assess the function and phenotype of immune cells using molecular techniques (Nucleic Acid Isolation, PCR, ELISA, Western Blot, CRISPR/Cas9, and qPCR), in vitro co-culture assays, and multiparameter flow cytometry.
+ Develop cell-based assays for characterization of large and small molecule compounds with relevant biological readouts (multi-color flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD, protein degradation).
+ Investigate novel target biology in primary epithelial and stromal cell populations.
+ Analyze, compile, and present results when necessary to the appropriate forums.
+ Maintain an electronic record of all experiments and resulting data.
Qualifications & Experience
+ Completed 2+ years of a relevant life science undergraduate degree or be enrolled in a relevant Master's degree program.
+ Prior relevant research experience required, preferably in mammalian tissue culture. Must be willing to work with human and mouse primary tissues.
+ A general practical or theoretical understanding of immunology is preferred.
+ Possess a high level of critical thinking, independence, a strong desire to learn new techniques, and the ability to work in a highly dynamic research organization.
+ Able to commit to continuous full-time employment from July - December.
+ Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
