Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
The internship will consist of production support activities in a specific process area along with an involvement on a few key projects.
Objectives for the production support and projects will be clearly laid out, and the work will be in a team environment of engineers, technicians, and operators.
Key Responsibilities Work with support groups and production teams to coordinate and direct equipment installations, start-up, repair, troubleshooting, and process changes. Support Preventive Maintenance activities. Provide first, second, and third level troubleshooting of equipment/process issues. Provide technical training for associates. Recommend improvements to process/equipment and drive equipment robustness Identify chronic issues and recommend corrective actions Work in a team to drive equipment/process standardization and continuous improvements Requirements Ability to build relationships, work in teams and interact with all levels of the organization Excellent verbal and written communication skills Results-oriented Technical curiosity and capability in discipline 2nd year student in the following four programs: Mechatronics Eng. Electronics Eng. Electrical Systems Mechanical Eng. Hours of work / work schedule Basic work hours are 20 to 40hrs/week; 8am-5pm; additional hours/weekends when needed to meet project objectives

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
