Co-op Scientist, Cell Line Development

This is what you will do:

The Cell Line Development Co-op Scientist is responsible for performing assigned experimental tasks to support the development and optimization of cell line development and cell culture processes for Alexion’s therapeutic protein candidates.  The Co-op Scientist will develop and implement processes to enhance molecular biology, stable cell line generation, and clone selection.

You will be responsible for:

Employ molecular techniques and bioinformatics to construct and analyze plasmidsBeing trained on relevant equipment and systems being utilized for the projectDesign and execute experimental studies to evaluate innovative technologies to improve efficiency of cell line generation processDocument study results in notebooks, and technical reportsCoordinate laboratory management including ordering and maintenanceCommunicate scientific findings to colleagues within the group through informal presentations

You will need to have:

BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university0-2 years’ experience working in relevant laboratory setting.Understanding the fundamentals of biology, chemistry, and chemical engineeringStrong learning agility to learn new techniquesThe duties of this role are conducted in an lab environment.  As is typical of a lab-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: lift/carry 15/30 pounds unassisted/assisted; work comfortably in a controlled environment with and around biological, infectious, and hazardous materials; gown/degown PPE; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.

We would prefer for you to have:

Experience with experiment design, cell culture, molecular biology and bioinformaticsExcellent written and verbal skills and strong people skillsCollaborative and effective communication skillsExperience with various MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
