This is a temporary, full-time, hourly paid position open to current students who will be returning to their studies once this work term is complete. This position is not available for remote work. Work will be both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Outside the office, standard work wear will consist of hard hats, safety boots, safety glasses and ear plugs, with other items as needed; these items will be provided Location: Aurora, North Carolina Term (6 months): Dates can be adjusted/extended to coincide with school terms. Spring 2025 - January 6 - July 25  Fall 2025 - June 2 to December 19

 

What you will do:

Assist the Process Safety Management department with various duties, including: Project work developing PSM program strategies and goals for continuous improvement of the site’s PSM performance and compliance with corporate PSM standards.  Conduct PSM activities to ensure technical support to the Operations, Maintenance and Engineering departments.  Provide support for site's PSM training to the Training department, including development and review of training content  Ensure accurate and timely record keeping and reporting for PSM leading and lagging indicators  Supervise site's Facility Siting updates and initiate follow-up corrective actions as needed  Assist in compliance with RAGAGEP (recognized and generally accepted good engineering practice)    Stay abreast of new and pending PSM regulations and creative technologies that would aid in improving the PSM process  Participate in local community activities and programs affecting PSM, in professional organizations, and in civic and governmental groups as a Nutrien representative  Perform engineering calculations and studies as required in areas including safety, environmental, and process   Assist with incident investigations (Taproot) for process safety incidents and provide leadership for the site’s Management of Change (MOC) program Assist with operational risk assessment studies as well as process hazards assessments for design changes

What you will bring:

Must be currently enrolled and have completed at least 1 year of an undergraduate degree in Process Safety, Chemical Engineering or equivalent related program at an accredited post-secondary institution AND returning to full-time studies after the work term. Demonstrate positive safety behavior and leadership Willingness to learn and gain knowledge and experience through training Strong interpersonal teamwork and communication skills Motivation to set and achieve goals, take initiative, and nurture project forward Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship Must be able to work at heights, outdoors, and around potentially hazardous chemicals Must be able to hear and understand audible alarms, changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communications Must be familiar with Microsoft’s Office Suite
