Position Title: Coalition Coordinator Non-Exempt Position
Responsible to: Teen Advocacy Coalition (TAC) Program Director
Overview
The Coalition Coordinator works under the supervision of the Program Director. The Teen Advocacy Coalition (TAC) is a grassroots community coalition in Pacific County, Washington. TAC works to reduce youth substance use, promote behavioral health, and connect youth and families to resources. The coalition coordinator leads a collaborative effort working with a diverse group of stakeholders including community organizations, government agencies, schools, law enforcement and other services providers.
Essential Duties
Provide leadership support for all Teen Advocacy Coalition meetings and steering committee meetings. Develop meeting agendas, meeting notices, recordkeeping, and other administrative duties.Responsible for grant writing, management, reporting and evaluation. Ensure all grant recordkeeping, reporting and recording requirements are met. Facilitate the strategic work plan as described in the grant document such as developing community partnerships; recruiting new coalition members; coordinating community and other coalition events, partnering with volunteers, youth, schools, youth serving organizations and other community-based stakeholders. Provide leadership in planning and coordinating community and school-based education and awareness events, media campaigns, and community and parent outreach. Maintain coalition social media networks. Work closely with capacity building committee in securing grant funding, in-kind donations, and identifying and pursuing local funding opportunities from individuals, service clubs, businesses, and foundations. Conduct community outreach and presentations about the mission and work of the coalition to community groups. Provide environmental strategies and or strategic prevention framework training to coalition members. Mandatory attendance at required grant training including some overnight and out of state training. Serve as a key liaison between Teen Advocacy Coalition and the fiscal agent (Lifeline Connections), community, service providers, board and interested parties.Development of promotional items, documents, brochures, and newsletters.Leverage resources for sustainability and the Teen Advocacy Coalition: research, identify, and prepare applications to obtain funding for various projects, studies, or programs. Develop and administer programs as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education, social services, public health, or closely related field required. A minimum of two years education in closely related field combined with five years experience in community coalition building and prevention practices can be substituted for bachelor’s degree requirement. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge in youth substance use prevention, youth prevention programs, prevention principles and experience in coalition building, community mobilization and outreach preferred.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications including Excel, Word, Publisher, etc. Must have exceptional interpersonal relations skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to create and maintain community partnerships. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and ability to make effective public presentations on technical, complex, and often, controversial information.Ability to lift objects up to 40lbs including office and event supplies, books, and other equipment.
Personal Qualities
Thorough knowledge of planning principles, strategic prevention framework, and techniques as they relate to human services and community development, with special emphasis on programs and services for at-risk youth and families.Ability to independently initiate, plan and complete work assignments.May be assigned to work on both long and short-term projects and have more than one project assignment at any given time. Appear for scheduled work with regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.Establish and maintain cooperative, effective, and productive working relationships using tact, patience, and courtesy.Effectively plan and organize work and complete tasks within prescribed timeframes.Occasional out of town travel required.Location: Raymond, WA
Salary: $23.00 - $28.00/hr DOE
