The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.

 

The purpose of this position: To set up and operate coating chamber to deposit multi-layer optical coatings while in a high vacuum environment. During the deposition cycle the operator will document required in-process data and monitor critical attributes as outlined on the chamber set points and operating conditions.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Chamber preparation and set-up, part inspection prior to loading into chamber tooling, loading tooling into system, deposition per coating Run-sheet, Part unloading and inspecting prior to delivering to inspection. Preparation of hardware (including but not limited to painting, alodine, priming, cleaning of non-optical surfaces). Operates vacuum coating chambers daily working toward meeting schedules and deadlines outlined by either the department supervisor or lead technician. Participates in the disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and maintenance of coating chambers utilizing bead blasters and other various tools and equipment. Maintains accurate data as required for manufacturing and quality records including but not limited to maintaining the chamber run logs and maintenance logs. Utilizes production schedules and automated shop floor control system to maintain status of the product. Performs product and diagnostic measurements using IR and UV-Vis spectrophotometers, records, and reports results to shift supervisor, responsible for product quality per in process criteria and specifications.

 

Requirements:

Must be capable of solving routine production problems as they arise. Problem solving independently on routine production with awareness of when assistance is needed. Must be capable of performing tests without supervision. Good organizational skills and ability to be flexible with changing work demands. Ability to gather data for submission to QA. Attention to detail and quality paramount. Flexibility to work to deadlines.

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or GED 1-2 years industrial or manufacturing experience

The range for this position is ​$21.00 hourly rate - $24.42 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
