NVR – the parent company of Ryan Homes, NVHomes, and Heartland Homes – is searching for a Code Compliance Specialist to be integral to our Architectural Services Team, which emphasizes collaboration and innovation. This role is on-site in Frederick, MD. You will work with teams as a subject matter expert responsible for ensuring that assigned projects adhere to all applicable building codes, regulations, and safety standards. You will also be responsible for conducting inspections, reviewing plans, and collaborating with Procurement, Manufacturing, Warranty, and Homebuilding within NVR. You will also engage with external parties, including code officials and/or other professional associations.

Primary Responsibilities
Review new or alternative building products presented by Procurement, Manufacturing, and/or Homebuilding for code-compliant application. Collaborate with Homebuilding personnel, local, state, and county building code officials, and professional associations to monitor and participate in code adoption discussions. Coordinate with Homebuilding and Warranty teams to identify preventative design changes and innovative design opportunities. Oversee major projects with minimal supervision. Facilitate training of department team members on all aspects of code compliance within the building process. Ensure project accuracy to minimize the need for significant changes to structure, design, or established procedures. Apply in-depth knowledge and expertise of building codes, compliance standards, and construction practices to support team members and projects, ensuring all aspects meet the quality and technical standards established by NVR. Conduct regular meetings with Homebuilding, Manufacturing, Procurement, and other relevant departments to discuss ongoing projects, compliance issues, and code updates, ensuring all teams are aligned. Consult with experts in various fields, including structural and mechanical engineers, architects, estimating analysts, building code officials, truss engineers, and IT, to ensure documents are complete and accurate.Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree, preferably in construction, architecture, or design. Minimum of 5 years of experience in residential construction. Proficient in reading blueprints. Proficient with spreadsheet and presentation tools, as well as MS Office products. Knowledge of various ICC codes preferred, including but not limited to residential, energy conservation, mechanical, and fuel-gas codes. Exceptional attention to detail, problem analysis, and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities. High energy with the ability to multi-task and prioritize. Membership in ICC or NAHB is a plus.Life at NVR
