In this role, you will enforce and investigate Federal, State, and County ordinances, including but not limited to property standards, building codes, sound ordinances, news racks, zoning codes, and solid waste regulations, while also making appropriate referrals to other departments. Apply today and be a part of this amazing team!Investigate, research, enforce and process complaints regarding the above ordinances and codesDetermine legal descriptions and property owners from county recordsMaintain complaint records and input data into the computer tracking systemUtilize contractors for abatement of violationsPrepare and testify on cases for hearing before the Special MagistrateCompile case information for public records requestsRecover illegal signs from the rights-of-wayParticipate in cross training sessions with co-workers to address the comprehensive list of codesParticipate in FACE and other internal and external training as requiredWorks with citizens, civic associations, and homeowner’s associations to maintain a clean healthful and aesthetically pleasing community:Distributes educational materialsParticipates in monthly Community Cleanup EventsAttend Homeowner Association meetingsWork Hours: Regular hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Rotational Saturdays or Sundays, overtime, early morning and late evening inspections, Saturday Community Clean Up.
About YouMinimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or its equivalentThree (3) years of field enforcement experience involving interpreting, documenting, reporting, and/or correcting violations of regulatory codes or ordinancesAssociate degree can substitute for two years of the required experienceValid Florida Drivers' License is required at time of hireMust obtain FACE (Florida Association of Code Enforcement) certification (one level) within one year of employmentPreferred Qualifications:
FACE certificationSound level meter readings and light meter reading experienceSubject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
About Everything ElseStarting Pay: $23.56 - $25.50/hour, based on your experience
